The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) #1

I'm so excited about this movie since my girl Jessica Simpson is going to be in it. Here's a summary about the upcoming movie The Dukes Of Hazzard, which will be released in theatres on August 5, 2005:

Plot Summary: Set in present day, the story follows the adventures of "good old boy" cousins, Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, who with the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshine running Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), try and save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee," their famed 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey).

Anyone else looking forward to seeing this?

I'm probably going to see it. I loved the old TV show, and I'm curious about how the movie turns out. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but I just hope it was made in the same fun-loving spirit the show was.

Willie Nelson? Jessica Simpson? Sounds fun, indeed.

Oh god - there are no lows to the depths Hollywood will troll, yet I'll probably see this one, too.

This version looks like it was done the "right" way, however, if you can believe that.

The director is the same one who did "Super Troopers", so if you liked that kind off-beat humor, than DoH should be as good if not slightly better since it appears to be more focused than ST was in the story being told.

Also, the producers know DoH is not Shakespeare (never was) and aren't trying to pretend it is. This is the main aspect I think people forget when they roll their eyes at what comes out of mainstream Hollywood.

DoH is and was always will be about escapist fun and this film looks to keep that tradition alive. I mean, you can't help but laugh at the cast alone... But again, that is part of the brilliance of the project... And this disparate mix-mash of talent might just surprise us all.

Bottom line: The producers know who the target audience is... The latest generation of teen boys who weren't even a twinkle in their father's eye when they (the fathers) were that age sitting in front of the TV drooling over Barbara Bach in her original Daisy Dukes... And they aim to deliver a product that appeals to this kind of moviegoer, regardless of age, who isn't looking for "the meaning of life" when they go see DoH

I don't know - I think the target audience will also be those of us who were pathetically addicted to the TV show, too, which is something that many of these movie-revivals-of-TV-classics aim for (not just the teen generation).

I'm not saying that this movie couldn't be fun and as I said I'll probably watch it (especially as the cast is good, as you say), I'd just like to see something other than a remake or sequel and they seem to be few and far between.

Still, as you say - this isn't meant to be brain surgery.

God, I nearly fell off my chair laughing.. Is this a joke? I admit I used to watch the tv show, but I was also only 8 at the time. It was bad enough then, but now with Jessica simpson....man oh man.

too funny...

The Dukes Of Hazzard (2005) #1

Hey people! I am surprised that there isn't a thread for this movie. The movie came out today August 5th. It stars Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville, Jessica Simpson, Burt Reynolds, and Willie Nelson.

If anybody saw it, post in here.

Wow, I think that was probably the worst movie I've seen all year. Now I think I have a pretty good sense of humor, but I think I laughed once. Don't get me wrong, I like good humor, but the supposed "humor" was stupid, and not in a funny way either. The jokes got old and the movie was boring...pretty crude too. Don't waste your time of mone. If you REALLY want to see this, at least wait until it comes out on DVD. Even then I wouldn't recommend wasting the few dollars it costs to rent it.

Two thumbs DOWN, WAY DOWN.

I'm gonna have to disagree. I thought it was really good, and the other moviegoers in the theater agreed. It's been awhile since I've been to a movie in a theater where people were cheering all throughout the money. I thought it was really funny, and i loved it!

I saw it opening night, and I wasn't too impressed. It was alright, but since I grew up watching the TV show reruns, I guess I was expecting more Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott were definitely funny, although the Jessica Simpson flaunting got old The crowd seemed to love it though.

Guess everyone has different opinions!

She was doing it through the whole movie and it was really getting old, but other than that it was such a funny movie i loved the dorm scene, so fricken funny i wont say anymore so i dont spoil it..
