Quote:

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE tells the story of the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families ever seen on motion picture screens. Together, the motley six-member family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of 7-year-old Olive, an ordinary little girl with big dreams. Along the way the family must deal with crushed dreams, heartbreaks, and a broken-down VW bus, leading up to the surreal Little Miss Sunshine competition itself. On their travels through this bizarrely funny landscape, the Hoovers learn to trust and support each other along the path of life, no matter what the challenge.

I want to see this SO badly, but I doubt it will come here! I just saw Abigail on Leno, she was so prescious!

I just saw this movie tonight and let me tell you,it was AMAZING! The best movie I've seen in awhile. It was funny,touching...everything.I went to see it just because it looked like a good indie flick and because I love Steve, but it was just a great great movie.Everyone in the cast is so talented and especially Greg and Steve! The characters are so amazing and complex that you see everyone's good and bad sides.

And I'm not joking about it being hilarious.I was laughing outloud the entire time! There are certain scenes that are just classic, laugh outloud for minutes moments.I was so impressed with not only the actors(esp Steve because I never thought of Michael Scott once during the movie) but the director and the writer.Well written, well directed, well acted. The little girl is so sweet.I'm telling everyone I know to go see it!

Since I saw one of the earlier screenings and I live in NYC,they gave out free t-shirts which was really cool.I got a Little Miss Sunshine t-shirt that says 'I Hate Everyone' on it.I loved the movie so much that I might see it again.I figure I can't post any spoiler things on here unless it'll be whited out so I can't say anything but that you'll have a blast!

Awww, you are so lucky. Your review was great! I so want to see this!

Anjinator - I love Abigail. Too cute. It's playing here but nowhere super close. I will see it for sure when I get back though.

Sarah - I'm so happy to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks so much!! And cool about the t-shirt. :)

Melinator, isn't she a doll? The next Dakota I tell ya. ;) That scene they showed on Leno where she started crying, omg, I almost lost it, and it was just a clip.

Enigma 07-30-2006 01:28 PM

Yes she is. ;) And yep, I saw that clip as well. :)

I'm going to take a look again and see where it's playing here. Maybe I can squeeze it in before I leave.

goodbreakingbad 07-30-2006 06:01 PM

Melinator, you hadn't tried being like me all day, I was getting worried.  :P

I am hoping it just might come here.

I can't wait to see this. It looks fantastic and the cast/character comb is a great mix.

This is random because I know the stories are not really similar but it always makes me think it might be similar to Happy, Texas with Steve Zahn. He pretends to be a pageant consultant but he's really running from the law.

goodbreakingbad 07-31-2006 07:31 AM

I have to watch that one too.

I keep watching the trailer, it looks hilarious when they've realized they forgot Olive, go back, and can't stop the van, so she has to jump.

I just saw this movie tonight. It was FANTASTIC. It's wildly hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. I've also been telling everyone I know to go and see it, and I agree with Sarah, it's the best movie I've seen in a really, really long time. Abigail is ADORABLE.

Enigma 08-19-2006 02:23 AM

Sarah - I appreciate your comments even more after seeing it tonight (finally).

Cotton Candy - Totally agree.

It was AMAZING!!!!!! The acting was teriffic!!!!!!!!!! It was funny and heartfelt.

Abigail is a doll. I thought she did a wonderful job. She made me laugh and cry.

The surprise stand out for me was Paul Dano as Dwayne. Wow!!!! :sigh: I thought he was amazing...............especially in that one really huge scene.

Steve was of course great. I didn't think of Michael (office) at all either.

Toni Collette - In the past couple of years I've realized just how much I like her and how talented she is. I loved her in In Her Shoes with Cameron Diaz. And she was superb in Night Listener which I just recently saw. She was teriffic in this as well.

Loved seeing Greg Kinnear in this as well.

The movie was so funny...........I was literally in tears I was laughing so hard in some scenes. Other scenes brought me to tears. Some of them both at the same time!!

I saw this a couple nights ago and LOVED it! So cute! The cast is great, everyone plays their part. Aww Abigail is absolutely adorable, and Paul Dano as Dwayne was really good. Gah I just loved everyone. It's such a great movie, very feel-good.
