Watched The Swimmer (1968) yesterday, starred Burt Lancaster
A really interesting slow-burn film that on the surface appeared to be rather shallow (lots of body shots of Burt jumping around half-naked with pretty women) but then got deeper (pun not intended) and darker as his character arc was further explored. Synopsis via google: Quote:

Here's a film I would categorize more as a thriller (murder plot plays out) but definitely shows the dramatic elements of how Romance can be completely manipulated for a selfish woman's gain and how passion/love are two different things ~
Blind Corner [1963] Wiki's outline of the movie: A blind composer's (William Sylvester) wife (Barbara Shelley) and her artist lover try to kill him. Anne (the wife) is such a ruthless/nasty person; I felt so sorry for her husband was being totally blind-sided (pun intended) by her affair and plot to kill him. Luckily, he's smarter than she thinks. Props to the role played by Alexander Davion who plays the lover, Rickie - he's not just the jerk boyfriend who wants her husband dead, too. He actually has a conscience. stars __________________

Just watched Desire Under the Elms [1958]
Never thought I'd see Anthony Perkins and Sophia Loren paired together on screen but it surprisingly worked, and wow this was not any basic lovey-dovey romance some parts were downright shocking, particularly toward the end of the movie and it's really about what Loren's character is willing to do to prove her love for Perkins' character. Well worth watching for their performances and Burl Ives who plays her husband with a frustrated one-sided love for her. A good drama about obsessive passion and how social status can destroy lives __________________

Some dramas I've seen this October:
American Woman [2018] starring Sienna Miller Rebecca [2020] starring Lily James & Armie Hammer Luce [2019] starring Naomi Watts & Tim Roth Burden [2018] starring Garrett Hedlund, Forest Whitaker Out of the 4, American Woman is the one I'd recommend. Rebecca is a disappointment (I'll say more about it in the Netflix thread) Luce and Burden are too preachy for my taste. __________________

THE TRUMAN SHOW... One of the greatest, most thought-provoking and future-looking movies ever made:
