Justice League: Gary Oldman’s Commissioner Gordon Advice To J.K. Simmons
Quote:
“The thing you’ve just got to get used to with Gordon is he’s a really sound detective, first of all. And he’s really incorruptible, which is a kind of wonderful quality to play and sort of, like, true blue. He’s like a Watson, oddly. He’s sort of like Watson to Sherlock, is Gordon to Batman.”

JUSTICE LEAGUE: PART ONE's Cinematographer Revealed
Quote:
Longtime Zack Snyder cinematographer Larry Fong is not returning for work on Justice League: Part One after working with Zack on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fong and Snyder have also previously worked together on 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch. Replacing Fong is Fabian Wagner, best known for working on Game of Thrones and Da Vinci's Demons.

Justice League: Part One will be directed by Zack Snyder from a script written by Chris Terrio. Henry Cavill stars as Superman, Ben Affleck plays Batman, Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa is Aquaman, Ezra Miller is The Flash and Ray Fisher is Cyborg. J.K. Simmons is also expected to appear as Commissioner Gordon, along with Amy Adams, who'll be reprising her role as Lois Lane and Amber Heard, who'll be making her debut as Mera. The film will be released on November 17, 2017.

DCEU Producers Talk Justice League; Cast Shares Workout Photos

Quote:
Warner Bros.’ Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been a divisive movie, though its $785+ million global box office shows that it’s still performing decently in spite of the critics. Though it wasn’t the billion-dollar hit in theaters that the studio likely hoped it would be, its performance has been solid enough that the rest of the DC Extended Universe is still moving forward as planned.

One of the big upcoming parts of the DCEU are the two planned Justice League films, the first of which was scheduled to begin filming this week. While those behind the scenes are eager to point out the successes of Batman V Superman, they’re also happy to discuss how amazing Justice League – Part 1 is going to be.

According to Variety, the Warner Bros. presentation on the DCEU at CinemaCon focused largely on Wonder Woman, the positives of Batman V Superman and how it all ties together in Justice League. The presentation talked about how Batman V Superman provided “the first real taste of this expanding universe“ to fans, with production chief Greg Silverman adding, “It’s exciting for the fans to see how interconnected all these universes are.” DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns commented on the expanding universe as well, highlighting Justice League in particular as a big step forward and how “bringing [the DC superheroes] on screen together is seismic.”

Despite some rumors to the contrary, Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder is still directing Justice League – Part 1. Warner Bros. execs are supposedly keeping a closer eye on production, though, so the end result may be a bit different than what fans are expecting from Snyder. Regardless of whether the studio wants to rein Snyder in or not, though, those in the film seem committed to bringing the Justice League together at last.

AQUAMAN (2018): James Wan Talks How He Will Do Origin Story and Tie Into Justice League | FilmBook
Quote:
As we all know, Aquaman is somewhat the butt of the joke in the superhero world. There’s something cool about that. I love the idea of being the underdog, coming in with a take on this underdog character and completely blow people’s expectations away. Like, ’Oh, you thought he was going to be a wimpy character? No no no.’ It’s going to be so cool.
Aquaman: James Wan Discusses the Film’s ‘Origin Elements’
Quote:
“There’s Justice League that happens before it, so I have to be respectful to that. But in a lot of ways… it’s a continuation but there are origin elements as well — and that’s the story that I’m excited to tell.”

“A big part of it was me telling them what potential I saw in this character. No no no.’ It’s going to be so cool.”

Justice League: J.K. Simmons' Commissioner Gordon will be different from past iterations | EW.com
Quote:
Ben McKenzie (Fox’s Gotham), Gary Oldman (the Dark Knight trilogy), Pat Hingle (Tim Burton’s Batman), and Neil Hamilton (the 1960s Batman series) are some of the actors who have portrayed Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. However, J.K. Simmons won’t be taking many notes from them.

“Obviously, a lot of really wonderful actors have played that character previously, and most of them I saw at the time the movies came out, never imagining that I would be doing the same thing,” the actor told Collider during an interview. “So, I can’t say that I don’t have some impression of that character in my head that’s based on what I saw, but I’m not planning on going back and watching any of the other films.”

Simmons continued, “I’m just planning on learning as much as I can about him through the comics and getting my feet wet in the first movie, and then hopefully continuing on from there.” Likening the process to his days in theater, he added, “I’m sure there will be differences and similarities with what Gary Oldman or Pat Hingle have done before, but I’m just going to try to do my take on it and be as informed as I can about the rich history of the Batman universe, going into it.”

The Whiplash Oscar winner will debut as Gordon in Justice League: Part One, which has already begun principal photography under the direction of Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill (Superman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) have all teased their preparations, but Simmons says he has “a couple of months” and “two other films” before heading to set.

The actor previously entered the superhero movie landscape as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, but Simmons won’t bring the same comedic relief to Justice League.

“My understanding, from what I’ve learned so far about Commissioner Gordon, is that he’s the older guy with the mustache who relates with our hero in a certain way,”
he said. “Other than that, it’s a vastly different character and much more of a stronger, impactful character in the DC universe.”

No word on whether Dafoe*will interact with his*Spider-Man*co-star J.K. Simmons, who was cast as Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon.
