The way Doug looked at Karen :sigh: :in_love:

I liked that shaggy hair look on him a lot too!
Great pic, thanks for that! :) |
I think Jason Behr had just finished shooting the Roswell TV show and it was nice to see a change from the floppy school boy cut he'd always had in that :D
I loved their relationship in the movie, and I think the sequel suffered because of the lack of Jason/Sarah interaction. |
Yes I remember looking up some info on him and I never watched Roswell, but knew of his role on the show.
|
He gave a really smart performance in that show. Having to play an Alien/Human... He displayed this unique quality of shy and confidence all at the same time. He seemed innocent yet full of wisdom.
I was also very happy to hear he was cast in this movie, because he had appeared as Sarah's old flame on BUFFY so I knew they'd be good together :) |
Oh right, forgot about Buffy!
|
That's why I knew Sarah would own the role of Karen - I'd already watched her play a kick-ass heroine for years
|
I couldn't get into Buffy at all, I wasn't a huge SMG fan and she was everywhere at that time with the success of the show.
|
That's a shame, though I do understand that these type of TV shows are not everyone's cup of tea. The hype can do them harm.
I think Buffy was a role that Sarah really sunk her teeth into for at least 4 years, but you could tell by the 6th season that she was less enthused about it. The role of Karen in The Grudge was something that came along soon after Buffy had ended, and it was great to see her in an internationally set film. :) |
I just find when something is so popular and thrust in your face, I tend to shy away, it gets too much.
That's how it was for Gossip Girl and I'm now watching. |
Buffy and Gossip Girl are now miles apart when I watch them in retrospect
For me, GG is teen melodrama with a few decent performances but too many self-righteous characters (poor and rich statuses are irrelevant; everyone is the same). BTVS had heart to it, and no matter how ridiculous the supernatural aspects got, the bonds of friendship held them all together. Whereas in GG, people too easily turned on each other  GG was heavily influenced by the development of social media, which is immediately evident  The cast of The Grudge is smaller, and so it's easier to like people because the writer spent time on developing their arcs - particularly those of the family who get killed. |
Yes I do find with GG the self-righteous attitudes are bothersome but I still love D/S and the crap that happens the vindictive revenge that goes nowhere! :lmao:
I agree too with the smaller cast of The Grudge it's a lot easier to find a character to latch on to or relate too. |
GG was really appealing for a while, but I think I got too caught up in the hype like everyone else at the time and didn't realize how irritating the love connections were  I wanted Nate/Serena but they had a bigger role in the books from what I've heard. Blair's minions are all pathetic  I still like C/B, though.
Cute BTS image of Jason and Sarah filming The Grudge! https://i.pinimg.com/236x/70/7f/a3/7...hr-roswell.jpg |
That's such a cute BTS photo!
|
I remember watching the BTS of their filming. They attended the traditional Japanese ceremonies of prayer etc - the whole cast and crew really respected their surroundings. :)
