normally my family and i don't watch the academy awards.....we'll have someone record them for us and watch them the next day....fast forwarding through most of the show....except for the nominations that interest us....

in regards to those nominations i hoping that melissa leo is nominated and wins the academy award for best actress for her performance in 'frozen river'....a film that hardly anyone i know has seen or knows about....yet her performance in that film is garnering glowing reviews.....i was lucky to have seen this film in a theater about 6 months ago.....it's been brought back to one theater, in orange county, this past week because of the critical acclaim the movie and actress is getting.....

Well, you'll definitely be sitting through that category at the Oscars, Mukooh. Melissa Leo was nominated!

Sadly Kate Winslet was only nominated in one category, for Best Actress for The Reader. I thought she put herself in as Supporting for that movie, and Lead for Revolutionary?

I'm confused on the Best song category also....The website is listing 3 songs. 2 from Slumdog, and 1 from Wall-E. Nothing from Bruce Springsteen? I'm confused??

She was lead for both movies I thought.

Overall, I'm surprised Revolutionary Road did so poorly, seems like they favored The Reader much more.

Anyways, most of it is not a surprise. Very happy for Heath, Kate, and Slumdog.

I'm surprised Leo wasn't nominated. Very strange.

I am so pleased Kate got her nomination. And it's good to see Heath Ledger got a nomination for The Dark Knight, which was expected. I hope both of those win in their category

My favorite Artist singer Bruce Springsteen didn't get the nod for best Orginal Score for the Wrestler Happy to see the Wrestler got 3 nominations !

Heath Ledger, I think if he didn't get nominated there would have been a huge uproar

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button i count 9 nominations . Excellent movie saw it last weekend well worth the 2hr 25 min .

Sad to see Grand Torino, another very well done movie, didn't get any nominations.

I disagree on supporting actor Josh Brolin in Milk , i personaly thought Emile Hersh had a larger supporting role and did a bang up job. Hell he was in PG movie Speed racer, this role he played Harvey Milk gay lover !

We will see come oscar night

Bit of a surprise with the noms

Surprised that 'Revolutionary Road' was so overlooked, though Kate and Leo would be a shoe-in for best actor and actress and also Sam for Best director, very strange

I've never even heard of a couple of the movies that have got noms, 'Frozen River' for example..

Glad that Frost/Nixon got some noms, but was hoping for Michael Sheen to get a nom. Glad that 'Milk' got some noms, that is an amazing film

Glad that Heath got a nom for TDK, and surprised with the nom for RDJ for 'Tropic Thunder'

Well to be honest there were about 3 lovers But I do agree with the nomination of Brolin. In the end though I don't think the movie will get much if any awards.

are you kidding? I thought he was hysterical in that role!
