Yeah, I'd rather see Gale back in District 12 with Katniss's family. And how would Gale be able to provide for his family (and Katniss's) if he went away to the Capital?

You raise an excellent question, Beth. About Gale needing to take care of his family. That was one of the things that made him so appealing.

I think that would be hard for the family to fend for themselves if Gale wasn't there.

I AM LIVID OVER THIS PLOTLINE. UGHHH. It has nothing to do with shipping. I actually LOVE Gale and this goes against EVERYTHING HE STANDS FOR GODDAMMIT. Okay Gale would NEVER leave his family or Katniss's how the hell are they going to survive without him? Who's going to hunt? The trip to the Capitol is NOT short. My biggest issue is that it shows that it's SO EASY to get to the Capitol when the Avox girl, and Bonnie and Twill were nearly dead when getting to District 12. It makes their efforts in Catching Fire and Mockingjay absolutely WORTHLESS and seem EASY. It undermines the difficulty of rebellion. The audience will be sitting there questioning why there was never a rebellion before if it's so effing easy to get into the Capitol. IT'S NOT. NO. NO. NO. UGH. I'm livid over this.

I've also heard they've changed the boy with the bread plotline so that it shows that Katniss and Gale have been trading meat for bread for years with PEETA.

They've also made it abundantly clear Peeta is in love with Katniss.

I HATE THIS SO MUCH. One of my biggest fears was they'd make Peeta a love-sick wimpy character and this is pointing to it. I LOVED the ambiguity of his character at first, their not-so-secret glances across the hallways NEVER EVER interacting except for that *one* time. It undermines the moment so much, the ENORMITY of what Peeta did for Katniss just goes down a whole lot because it's just like "oh my hunter girl is starving, here have a bread". I'm not happy with this.

Second, one of the best parts of THG was Katniss's constant indecision about Peeta's true intentions. I kept going back and forth as to his intentions too - was it strategy? did he like her? the tension between them is going to be absolutely UNBELIEVABLE.

Getting rid of Peeta's ambiguity in the beginning is a bad, bad idea. I think maybe showing Gale struggling in District 12 without Katniss, and maybe being jealous of what he's seeing onscreen would have been better. It would show who his character is, and show the G/K connection, and set up the triangle. But then again, I'm not a screenwriter. *shrug*

Honestly, they can easily show Gale in D12 - making him go to the Capitol undermines the whole story SO much. Makes all the rebellion stuff SO SO SO easy. It's ridiculous. They can add flashbacks to the Catnip scene.

Peeta's ambiguity in the first part was amazing - the constant struggle between reality and strategy - and it absolutely takes away the shock of seeing him with the Careers. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to play that UP.

I've heard they've made Haymitch a really pathetic character too - which he's not - he's just sick of everything he touches dying. GRR. Haymitch is one of my favourite characters!
