And there'd be a vague similarity to Frodo (Elijah)! Enough, anyway!

But obviously the Tolkien would mean more!

(Especially since I haven't even bothered to watch the other! )

I agree. James McAvoy would be perfect. I love him.

Is there a chance he'll actually be getting the part?

I think it's wishful thinking at this point.

But Sir Ian McKellen already said he's willing to play Gandalf again!

Is Peter Jackson actually going to direct The Hobbit? So many people have told me that he isn't then others have told me he is. I really hope he does! LOTR is one of my favourite films and Peter did an amazing job!

For sure. There's been no official word, but if they back Sir Ian back, they'll get him!

No, he won't be directing. He's directing the adaptation of The Lovely Bones. He will however, be a producer on The Hobbit.

Totally. For better or worse, PJ has become the leading figure in the LOTR world so it's cool that he's there even if he's not directing. I'd be lying if I didn't tell you I want him to direct, but the guy has other projects and I respect that too.

Some updates:

Film-maker Del Toro hails Hobbit director role as 'dream come true'

McKellen and Serkis set for Del Toro's Hobbit

Quote:
Guillermo del Toro has revealed more details about his forthcoming adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit, days after he was confirmed as the project's director.
Sir Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis look set to reprise their roles as Gandalf and Gollum.

Del Toro will soon move to New Zealand where he will direct two films back-to-back. The first one will be a straight adaptation of The Hobbit, while the second one will be an entirely original film, set between the end of The Hobbit and the beginning of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Mexican director promises that this new movie will not be a "tag-on" or a "filler".

Well I was out of the loop for the past couple of days! Guillermo del Toro, huh? It's an interesting pick. I think he'll do a good job
