I love that that is in Black and White! Makes the facial expression so much more earnest!

I think it would have been just as great in B&W Edward struck me as a Silent Movie type of character.

Thats true but we'd miss out on the opulence of the 'step ford' style town if it were. Unless its done Wizard of Oz style and the town was in colour and Edward's world black and white.

Now, there's an idea!

Edward in B&W and the neighborhood in color... It would reinforce how he sees everyone else as a higher being and the rest of the world as unattainable.

Yeah, they should release an anniversary edition re-imagined like that!

That could have been a really cool visual concept

Brandon Lee said he thought The Crow could have been filmed that way -- the present day in B&W and flashbacks in color, to represent his happy memories in contrast with the devastation Eric feels in his current form.

It's a cool idea. I don't think any movies have done that since Wizard of OZ, with the exception of the 'lack of colour' in "Pleasantville".

The Wizard of Oz was a beautiful movie. I find it annoying these days (the songs drive me nuts ) but the bright colors gave you that feeling that Dorothy had of being in a world where everything was magical

I feel as if Edward shared that same view of the world he was brought into by Kim's mother. He felt immediately out of place and shy. A very common trait with many of us

Very true! And I agree about being annoyed by WOO music. It's been redone so many times and variations that it's annoying when you hear the beginning strains of any song related to it!

Yellow brick road drives me nuts It's just overplayed in ads and other stuff

I haven't watched Edward Scissorhands in so long, but I always remember his deep love for Kim and the whole story of him being ostracized for his appearance. I just admire Tim Burton in a huge way for how he used real life judgments and brought them into a fantasy world

That was the only reality of the movie, the judgments and behaviour of the people!

Plus, Johnny Depp said it was a great role for him at the time, because he wanted to indulge in a part he could relate to in the aftermath of leaving 21 Jump Street and having lots of unwanted attention on him.

Plus it shows the beginning of his character diversity!

It's a disgrace that Johnny has never won an Oscar.

Oh I so agree. He's done 5 POTC films and was nominated for the first. But at least he has the recognition of a long career. Look how long it took for Leo DiCaprio to get his. It's sad!
