oh really it's ur second fav? wow. i haven't rewatched it in recent years. i always thought Tokyo Drift was such an after-thought movie. i remembered it was decent when i look at it as a stand-alone movie. and then all the mess of fitting it to the franchise timeline

It's one of those films that I can totally understand why people think it's odd or filler or whatever but I had a lot of fun with it
Looking back, I thought Lucas Black who played Sean was a lot better than people gave him credit for. I also loved seeing Han in a mentor role. The only thing I didn't care for was the 'love story' or whatever. The main girl wasn't interesting enough. __________________

The girl was totally forgettable. I can't even remember her name
Something I learned watching a Paul Walker documentary recently ~ it was supposed to be him in that final Tokyo Drift scene in the car next to Lucas. But they changed him with Vin at the last minute, because Paul pulled out due to a family emergency. __________________

Was definitely supposed to be Paul
The documentary I Am Paul Walker really goes into detail via family, friends, cast members and his manager about how the series only really went back to Vin Diesel by default in actual fact, they wanted Paul at the forefront going forward. But he refused to pull out of a family reunion because he was very close to his grandfather. I think it explains a lot about the sequel and Vin's absence. Seems as though they were pretty much done with his character and only got him back for the third movie and beyond that because Paul couldn't work around their tight schedule for Tokyo Drift. __________________

oh i see
ahh and they couldn't just leave Tokyo Drift as a spin-off since Han is in it. still what a mess afterwards when trying to connect with the other movies. __________________

I don't get why they were so desperate to tie all these movies together because the theme is basically race-car driving so I don't get why this always has to involve the same people! Moving it to Tokyo was actually refreshing and the overall theme remained consistent so I didn't miss any of the original people to be honest. Seeing Han there was just fine. He was chill and took the leader position and he seemed totally in his element. __________________

i know!
they could've just name the character another name than Han when bringing in Sung Kang to the franchise for good. also if they wanted to tie Tokyo Drift to the rest of the movie, they should've done it when Han appeared in F4. __________________

It reminds me of the 3rd Halloween movie, 'Season of the Witch' that is produced by the director of the original but is dismissed by a lot of fans just because it doesn't include the original killer Michael Myers. They don't appreciate that it works on its own merit and is in fact scarier than the rest because it doesn't follow the same characters, so you have less idea of what to expect.
The same theory should've worked for Tokyo Drift. People should have appreciated that they tried to go in a different direction whilst keeping to the same theme. It still works. __________________

What did you think of them breaking Dom out of the jail bus in the 5th one?
