i think that is called her Binary mode, a supermode of stellar energy that she use for short durations of time. Cap Marvel can use the energy of a white dwarf star and redirect it, much like the comics where Ms Marvel became Binary for a couple years. Carol Danvers has had a variety of names/personas over the years, before finally assuming the mantle of Captain Marvel in 2011. i think they have adapted the Binary comic storyline, as one of MCU character Captain Marvel's powers. i like it!
