What movies suprised you?

What movies were you dragged too and/or ended up seeing that you didn't think you were going to like and then actually did? Or the other way around, what movies did you think would be good but you ended up not liking?

Movies I ended up liking-

Pirates of the Carribean - I usually don't like movies that aren't in the present and movies like this, but I loved it! It was funny, had a good cast, and such good action! It was awesome!

Mystic River - Someone wanted to see this with me but I was like NO...when I didn't even know what it was about. Then a week later someone dragged me to it and the movie was great! I really wasn't in the mood to watch it but the movie was awesome and kept me guessing!

Cold Mountain - I really didn't want to see this movie but my cousins made me. The beginning kind of bored me and dragged on a little but it wasn't that bad. Good acting, good cast, and good action. There was also some humor in it too that suprised me.

Movies I ended up not really liking-

Without a Paddle - Me and my friend wanted to see a movie and WAP looked like the only good movie out at the time and since the previews looked funny we decided to see it. But the only funny scenes were the scenes they showed in the previews and it kinda bored us. I was really expecting more from this movie.

So what about you?

Van Helsing - I had been anticipating it for months on end, I counted down to May and was expecting a really good popcorn movie - it had all the ingredients to make me see it i.e Kate Beckinsale but in the end I was disappointed as it dragged on for too long in some spots, the SFX were horrid in some aspects and quite a few of the performances were a bit too wooden for me, especially Richard Roxbourgh as Dracula.

ITA. It was surprisingly awful as I loved Somers first Mummy movie, I loved Hugh Jackman in X-Men and Richard Roxbourgh was brilliant in the Moulin Rouge. Van Helsing was worse than a migrane

I went to see Mullholland Drive (it's a while ago...) and I hadn't heard much about it before. So, I was pretty surprised when I saw it. It wasn't at all what I had expected. You should've seen my face when it ended, I was just staring at the screen with my mouth open and thinking 'What in the world was that!'

I think you have to see it more than once to really understand it. It's beautifully done and the cast is good, but the twists of the movie were confusing.

Pirates of the Carribean- I expected it to be another teeny-bopper kinda thing, but it was very funny and well-made.

Pirates of the Caribbean - I didn't want to see this movie at all originally. I thought it looked stupid, but my friend who had already seen it dragged me to it, insisting that it was good. Now it's one of my favorite movies.

Dogville I don't know if you guys have seen it. But when the movie was starting my mother and I were suprised because it didn't have a location, it was all made on a stage. But after 20 minutes we saw how good the movie was and Nicole Kidman was fantastic; she really is a tremendous actress

And the ending is even more shocking I give this movie and A++++

Huh...I don't know Dogville but it rings a vague bell. I'll definitely check it out!

Signs. I was really expecting to hate this film...because I detested The sixth sense.

I was blown away by Jaquin(sp?) Phoenix's performance!

I got the dvd by accident (dvd club) and instead of sending it back, I watched it.

What a great movie!

THe Ring-- when I saw it, it was before all the buzz, I didnt even really know what it was about. I loved it

Saw--not just another horror movie, scared the CRAP out of me!

Phantom of the opera-- I had HIGH expectations and it was even better than I thought!

THe Aviator--It suprised me that everyone said it was so good and I hated every agonizing minute of it

Airplane - I only laughed because my friend is obsessed with it and was sitting right next to me. I felt like killing the power in my own house so I wouldn't have to sit through another second.

Come on, when they had the 'flashback' and made fun of Saturday Night Fever? I literally wet my panties, I laughed so hard

I was also suprised by it but because I knew it didn't have a normal set. It was all in a huge studio, with no walls or doors on the houses. I thought I wouldn't like it and I only watched uit because I'm a Lars von Trier and a Nicole Kidman fan.
I ended up loving the movie. It was one of the best movies I saw in 2003.

There were a few things that made me chuckle like the "auto pilot", but overall, I couldn't stand it. Maybe I have a bad sense of humor.
