Highway (2002) #1
Jack (Jared Leto) is caught with the wife of his employer, a Vegas thug. The thug sends goons after Jack, who convinces his best friend, Pilot (Jake Gyllenhaal), to flee with him. Pilot insists that they head for Seattle, but doesn't tell Jack why. The goons learn from Pilot's drug source where the youths are headed, and they follow, hell bent on breaking Jack's feet. On the road, Jack and Pilot give a ride to Cassie (Selma Blair), a distressed young woman. She and Jack hit it off. They pick up an aging stoner headed to Seattle for Kurt Cobain's memorial, and they help a circus sideshow family. Jack finally discovers that Pilot wants to go to Seattle in search of a former love.
Maybe not the best movie ever made, but still worth watching. Has anyone else seen it? What did you think? __________________

His character is more insecure than Donnie Darko, but doesn't have the other psychological problems that Donnie has. He also seems to have a strange sort of heroworship relationship with Jack.

But it does sound interesting (and hopefully not too contrived - the circus family, and all). I like most road movies. __________________

I have seen this movie, it was the first I saw with Jake and I fell in love with his character. It was so cute how Pilot wanted to go across country for a girl...
I also thought Jack was a great character. At first he seemed like a jerk, but gradually I liked him more and more. The ending was definitely a given, but I think it's worth seeing. Jake and Jared are great. __________________

I liked the characters, and of course the actors were certainly appealing, so it was definitely something I liked. It isn't my favourite movie starring either of these actors, but it is still something I enjoyed.

Another movie I rented randomly a looooong time ago and genuinley enjoyed. It's worth the hefty blockbuster fee in my opinion.

Shr I didn't know you liked Jared Leto! How awesome! He is a fine actor, though. He really knows how to transform himself.
For me it was Pilot's movie (the avatar gives it away, heh. ). When it ended all I remembered was Pilot. I NEVER liked Jake Gyllenhaal, not in "The Day after Tomorrow", or "The Good Girl", "Donnie Darko", etc.. Yet I saw this and from now on he'll always be Pilot! Selma Blair was also really good. Jared rocked as usual. And Johnny the Fox! Man, what a trip of a character! Jeremy Piven is his usual scene stealer self here too. __________________

I had a hard time at first not thinking of him as Jordan Catalano! What made you bump up this thread? __________________

I know.... When he started getting 'older' then I saw him less as Jordan. What made me bump this thread? That I actually saw the movie the other day. I hadn't seen it until last week I rented it finally. __________________

This isn't the best movie, but I definately like it alot. It seems like the more times you watch it, the more you appreciate it. Plus, I think Jake made a very adorable fluffy-haired drug dealer. LOL

Wow! I can't believe we even had a thread for Highway.
I still haven't watched it, but I already got my DVD so, I'm definitely going to be here more often. And yes, Ami and Nikki I'll also bump this thread. __________________
