6.11 - WOKE UP WITH A MONSTER

CONTROLLING YOUR MAGIC — More powerful than ever, Kai (guest star Chris Wood) holds Elena (Nina Dobrev) captive while he learns to control his newly acquired magic. At the Salvatore mansion, Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Alaric (Matt Davis) try to prepare Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) for the impending merge ceremony with Kai, but they quickly realize Jo is weaker than they thought. After bringing Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) home from the hospital, Caroline (Candice Accola) travels with Stefan (Paul Wesley) to North Carolina in search of a cure for her mother's cancer. Meanwhile, Stefan, who has his own intentions for traveling to North Carolina, is caught off guard when Enzo (Michael Malarkey) shows up demanding to know what Stefan is hiding. Lastly, when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) discovers Elena has been kidnapped by Kai, he is forced to rethink his strategy after an unexpected visitor throws a wrench into his plan. Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen and Zach Roerig also star. Paul Wesley directed the episode written by Melinda Hsu Taylor (#611). Original airdate 1/22/2015.

6.12 - Prayer For the Dying

THE MERGE — When Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Luke’s (guest star Chris Brochu) father arrives to town to celebrate their birthday, they try and convince him to let Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood) take their place in the merge ceremony. After Tyler (Michael Trevino) finds out that the merge is happening sooner than he expected, he urges Liv to let him talk to her father. Meanwhile, after Caroline’s (Candice Accola) plan to cure her mother takes an unexpected and devastating turn, Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) gather at the hospital, while Jo attempts to save Sheriff Forbes’ (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) life. Lastly, with the merge set to take place, Damon’s risky plan quickly sends things spiraling out of control, forcing one of the twins to take matters into their own hands. Jeffrey Hunt directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Rebecca Sonnenshine (#612). Original airdate 1/29/2015.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BONNIE — Determined to celebrate Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) birthday, Elena (Nina Dobrev) convinces Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) that it’s what Bonnie would have wanted. After piecing the broken ascendant back together, Elena, Jeremy and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attempt to send Bonnie a message, but the situation turns dire when they make an unsettling discovery. Meanwhile, after uncovering Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) secret about his great-niece Sarah Salvatore (guest star Tristan Mays), Enzo (Michael Malarkey) enlists a reluctant Matt (Zach Roerig) to help interfere with her life. Elsewhere, Stefan keeps a close eye on Caroline (Candice Accola) as she unconventionally attempts to cope with everything going on around her. Lastly, realizing it might be time to move on with his life, Jeremy contemplates leaving Mystic Falls for good. So are they gonna be traveling back and forth to 1994 realm until they get Bonnie back?? Considering Ian has filmed at the high school and Salvatore kitchen for episodes past 6x10. I really hope he hasn't gotten stuck there with Kai or whatever. But I've heard Kat hasn't filmed since 6x10. So I have no idea where that whole SL is going. .

Also, I just did some digging. I'm thinking Bonnie might actually die/disappear for good in 6x10 and that's the devastating news Stefan has to break to Caroline. Check out this pic the director of 6x12 posted Instagram. If you look at the chairs in the back one is Candice Accola and I'm pretty sure the one next to it says Marguerite MacIntyre which is Caroline's mom. That means she doesn't die. But as I said above, apparently Kat hasn't filmed since 6x10.

I doubt they'll kill off Bonnie, and if they do I won't believe it, she "died" so many times

They kill Bonnie every season, so it wouldn't surprise me. She's basically Kenny.

The minute Caroline insisted Liz be checked out I thought she was a goner. I'm thinking her injury may have triggered something the doctors didn't spot, bleeding to her brain etc Liz could very well transition into a vampire but as much as I love her Liz isn't really bringing much to the show anymore. I find it odd that after not seeing her for most of last season she is suddenly featuring much more, almost as if to make her loss more profound. I hope I'm wrong but with all these new characters we are bound to lose an old favourite...

Bonnie isn't going anywhere. She's already practically dead, and has "died" twice in the last two episodes. To have Damon going all heroic only to lose her again would be an anti climax and a waste of time. I believe they'll rescue her, it will bring DE closer and show Elena the humanity within Damon and the man she fell in love with, and Bonnie will play a part in defeating Kai who she will probably fall in love with....

I really loved DE's last scene in the episode. I knew when Stefan said that it was his love for Elena that allowed him to trust her, that we would see the end of Elena and Liam. Damon is already getting under her skin and she is becoming more open to the idea of him and how he makes her feel. Damon putting on his heroic face like Stefan would say, will only further endear Damon to Elena and it will throw them together which is what we need.

I have the feeling that Bonnie may not come back. As of 6x10 we know that she is still alone on the other side. So who knows what's up w/that. I know we've had filming in MF sets but they could be flashbacks or the magic could be lifted. I also think that BTS pic everyone thought was Elena's house is Kai's house. I think Kai managed to escape. In the extended promo someone is getting a rope or wire wrapped around their neck... I think that's Kai killing or attacking his dad.

I think Kai does escape and kill his father and what if he traps Damon, Elena and Bonnie in 1994. this story, which has been good so far, might start just going in circles if this happens. JP and CD said that this will be an on going storyline that might take the full year to complete.

I think Kai already escaped this episode. I think he's back in 6x09. I notice Jo goes missing in 6x10 so I wonder if Kai does something to her.

I think it would have been a twist for DE, when they arrive in 1994 that Elena's compulsion disappears and she remembers and when she goes back to the present the compulsion is back. That would make for an interesting talk between DE. Stay in 1994 and remember everything or sacrifice their past when they go to the present. What would Elena do, now that she knows Damon is alive. But that is not where the SL goes.
