Really? Another Weird Tales reader? Stephen King was also influenced by those guys, especially Lovecraft. He wasn't much of a fan of Robert E. Howard, though. Or superheroes in general.

Stephen King has said a lot of rotten, dumb things about a lot of good writing. Doesn't exactly make me think well of him. It's not like his own writing is all that great.

I agree. There's a handful of his stuff that I like - Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Dead Zone, Cycle of the Werewolf, The Stand, Carrie, the Skeleton Crew and Night Shift collections - but nothing after IT, to be honest. His best stuff was in the 70's and 80's and that's it. And his Dark Tower series was him wanking himself.

As a King fan, I can call him out when he deserves it. __________________

I've read stories of his that had some value, but I've also read stories of his that had no value. I think his work is better as a basis for film and tv than it is as writing on the page.

Well, it depends on what stories. I often prefer his short stories to some of his novels. I loved 'Salem's Lot, but I only liked the first half of The Stand. The second half was a flop for me. I've also seen too many film and TV adaptations of King's work that got everything wrong.

Well there was that awful King film in which worms came out of people's arses. It had Damian Lewis, Thomas Jane and Jason Lee.

You mean Dreamcatcher? Yeah, I didn't like that one either. That book came out in 2001, and King was basically plagiarized himself with that one, borrowing from IT and The Body(Stand By Me) with the use of childhood friends, and the Tommyknockers with the use of aliens. Like I said, after IT in 1986 King went downhill.
