I want to see Storm get her due. She's one of the very best female characters in comic books.

We don't know that Cyclops and Storm are alive then. The X-Men movie franchise plays fast and loose with continuity and could be meant to be heading into a whole new future. What we saw in Days of Future Past is no longer guaranteed as the future. They probably want a free hand with these movies set in the past. It could be going anywhere.

We don't, because they could have chosen to abandon that continuity and go in a different direction with these movies set in the past. We can't be sure they're still aiming for the end of Days of Future Past. Any more than we can depend on them to stick to the story from the comics.

I'm not even gonna try and guess about these continuities because at the end of the day it's all about the individual writers and what they wanna do. This is one reason why I hate movie continuities, because unlike comic books, all these movie writers are never on the same page.

Comic book writers are often not on the same page too. Like with how Chris Claremont repeatedly implied Magneto was Jewish, then in 1993 Marvel retconnned he was a Gypsy, then in 1997 Marvel ditched the Gypsy thing (establishing it as an alias Magneto had taken), implying a switch back to Claremont's Jewish Magneto, then, over the next decade, various writers and editors at Marvel kept getting confused and thinking the Gypsy identity was still the canon, until finally in 2008 Marvel got fed up and wrote Magneto's early life story, establishing him openly and definitively as Jewish. But I knew it back in the '90s. For years Magneto had kept going on about the Holocaust and mentioning only the Jews. If he was a Gypsy, wouldn't he mention them? They suffered in it too.
It was one of these things where the writer (Claremont) had a clear idea, but couldn't be open about it for political reasons (avoiding making a mass-murdering supervillain Jewish). Then they retconned it to get out of the Jewish supervillain thing, then they retconned it back, but didn't spell it out to be careful, then people got confused, then they finally spelled it out. I love Magneto in the comics (particularly when he's being reformed or ambivalent), so I'm glad he's Jewish, because not enough Marvel characters are and he's great character. Ben Grimm (the Thing) was meant to be Jewish from the start, but comics back then (and long after) had a strong taboo against stating the religion of superheroes, so they didn't state it in the comics, even though Jack Kirby had a picture up on his wall of Ben Grimm (rocks and all) in a Jewish prayer shawl. They didn't state it in the comics until this century, but you could read between the lines long before then. I figured out he was Jewish back in the '90s. Still it's sad that social/industry taboos barred two Jewish creators (Stan Lee and Jack Kirby) from openly portraying any of their characters as one of their own. Less open-minded times. __________________

Well, we don't really have a clue what they're going to do with it.

But what stories and characters they'll use when they reboot it is up to question. They'll want to do something different from what's been done before.

Yes, comic book writers also tend to play it fast and loose, but they stick closer to the same page more often than movie screenwriters, who just make a total mess of things. At least the comic book writers have what could be called a "bible" of the main storyline to work from, both in DC and Marvel. It does annoy me when they retcon certain things, but comics have had better consistency than Hollywood.
Well, the X-Men going back to Marvel and being integrated into the MCU won't happen for years, so we won't know what's gonna happen until then. Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants come out this year, with Gambit, X-Force, and who knows what else in development; and the MCU still has Ant-Man & The Wasp, Infinity War, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, and two more Spider-Man films to clear out of its system. Then they have to figure out what they're gonna do after contracts expire and actors leave roles and X-Men and Fantastic Four have to somehow be worked in with the Avengers in the MCU, and how the MCU is going to be refitted to accommodate them. I don't think we'll know anything until at least 2020. __________________

I hope so too. But like I said, I don't think we'll find out for a while because too many projects are already in development to integrate the two movie universes right now. They'll have to wait until later, when contracts have expired and actors leave roles before resetting the MCU with the X-Men in it would happen.
