That's exactly what I'm objecting to. My point is you don't have to be a dedicated Marvel reader at all to have some familiarity with those characters. Reading some comics as a kid hardly makes you a dedicated Marvel reader.

It's the Demon Bear, part of Dani Moonstar's story. It's also a famous cover from a mid-'80s New Mutants comic.

Both of them have been heavily rumored to be cast in those roles for about a year now, so it's nice to get confirmation.
