Thanks for the new thread! Great title! I agree! :)
Thanks for starting, Alex. :)
You're both very welcome! :) And I'm glad you like the title. I'm really hoping that Logan gets recognized this awards season, whether its the Golden Globes, Oscars, or whichever.
We'll see. But I really think both Hugh and Dafne are more deserving of Oscar attention for the film than Patrick.
I agree with you there, sum1. But who knows? Patrick might also sneak in as a supporting actor nominee.
I agree too, but I honestly think out of the three of them, Patrick is the most likely to get an Oscar nomination or Golden Globe nomination. It’s a lot easier to get it for best supporting actor than best lead actor, and unfortunately Meryl Streep is in the running this year and the academy gives her an Oscar nomination for every movie she does just for breathing. Plus, I haven’t seen any of the big critics or journalists say Dafne is in the running as a contender for any of the actress categories, whereas I’ve seen Patrick mentioned a couple of times in the top 5 for best supporting actor. And as for Hugh, I’ve seen them list him as the 10th best performance of the year by a leading actor, but unfortunately that wouldn’t get him a nomination. Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Renner, Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Daniel Day Lewis, James Franco, Timothee Chalamet, Gary Oldman, etc. are all favored over Hugh.
Meryl Streep is massively overrated. She's basically a crap actress who everybody thinks is great. Daniel Day Lewis is often crap and often inappropriately cast (total miscasting in Lincoln, In the Name of the Father and My Left Foot, for example). Matt Damon and Tom Hanks are sorely overrated. None of those actors have ever actually EARNED an Oscar or ever could. Like I've said, the Academy is full of :censored:.
What's Meryl up for, exactly? And most of those other actors you just mentioned in my opinion aren't any more deserving than Hugh. And he may also get some acclaim in The Greatest Showman. Dafne definitely deserves a nomination, though.
OMG sum1, I thought I was the only one that felt Meryl, Daniel Day Lewis, and company (all the other guys you mentioned) are very overrated! Usually, people are biting my head off for saying that!

 To the two of you about those actors. So overrated.
I certainly won't bite your head off, Theresa. Applaud your views, more like. :) |
The Post? Never heard of it. :P Quite a change from the 1980's, when any movie that Streep or Hanks made was practically an event. Streep is far from her 80's glory of Sophie's Choice, Silkwood, and Out of Africa. These days it seems like she gets nominated by the Academy out of obligation. Yep, it's her again. Great, now I'm getting nostalgic for Scarface, Miami Vice, and Back To The Future. Damn, I miss that decade. Too bad they didn't make a movie with Wolverine in the 80's, all decked out in satin pastels.

That would have been interesting.
