I think part of it, too, is that regions that don't have hurricanes might also start to get them...

I mean, I doubt Wyoming can anticipate getting hurricanes any time soon.

But we're getting more tornadoes up here, and we never used to get any of them. So I think part of it is that we're all expected to have more and more extreme weather patterns.

Yeah. Here on the west coast more has been made about getting an earthquake, which is called "the big one", but nobody knows when it will happen. I do wish that I'd have known about pandemics growing up. That's just not something that was mentioned in my youth to me.

Well, I remember being taught about the so-called Spanish Flu... really unfairly named, by the way. Just because they're the first ones who bothered to go "hey, so there's this thing killing off otherwise healthy young people, do you guys have that as well?"

I also grew up duing the AIDS crisis. Different situation, but no one knew what was happening and why at first either. So, after it was clear that it wasn't just "the gays," there was a certain level of panic about it as well.
