I can just begin to imagine what people with little to no ethics would do with that sort of technology, though...

That is the downside of such emerging technology.

Asteroid the size of a house flies by Earth, creating 'precious' opportunity for scientists

Hopefully, we never have to find out if an asteroid were actually headed straight at us.

"GN1 is about the same size as the Chelyabinsk Meteor, which was 59 feet (18 metres) long, said Mike Hankey, operations manager at the American Meteor Society."

I hope they keep good track of it!

I think once it's passed Earth... I kinda think they'll let it go.

New study suggests mushrooms may talk to each other with up to 50 'words'

That creeped me out, if I'm honest.

"Mushrooms may be able to communicate with each other through patterns in electrical signals."

"Underneath each mushroom lies hyphae, which are underground root-like structures that can be likened to nerve cells in the human nervous system. When hyphae form a network, called a mycelium, this can facilitate communication between fungi."

Wow, could they feel pain or warn others?

I don't know that they have pain receptors to feel pain. But perhaps there's a mushroom version of "stress" that could be communicated to others...

Rock found in Quebec could hold answers to early life on Earth

What's 300 million years one way or another?

"Using various microscopes, as well as a supercomputer to create 3D models of the rock's structures, the researchers confirmed that they were wavy in shape and contained organic carbon, which are characteristics of iron-eating microbes."

"This means life could have begun as little as 300 million years after Earth formed,"
It is so amazing how fast life expanded!

I'm not sure what it means, to be honest. Like, we were ameobas for 300 million more years? Just because there was "life" doesn't mean it's life that we would recognize.

I'm sure that's super exciting to some scientists, but I would need an explanation of the relevence of that period of time to feel that excitement myself...
