That movie was one of my earliest memories from around when I was maybe 3. Watching the War of Worlds on the tv next to my grandpa and being disturbed by the burnt outlines of the first 3 guys who got to close to those weirdo looking alien machines that fried them

I don't think I would have been allowed to watch it.

That was like in the early 90s for the Nick-at-Nite programing block at nighttime!
Here is Orson Welles doing the telecast of The War of the Worlds radio telecast in 1938 in which people really believes there was an invasion! __________________

You can see how back then people could fall for that. They way it was set up to sound like a legitimate news cast, the neighborhoods were isolated back then that the radio was the way to listen to world news. The stellar script and acting just made it sound like something scary was happening and they had no other way to check sources as they were hearing it over the radio!

That was amazing even though they said briefly that is was a show. The quality was amazing and perhaps not super supervising considering the people tuning in mid show and that there was no live media at the time!

It's also that sort of thing where, if you missed the introduction (assuming it was even introduced as a play), you would have no frame of reference to put it into context.

It was like Steven Spielberg's first detected movie and also the story first appeared on a playboy article in 1963.

The first movie I remember is Return of the Jedi...
I have seen Beetlejuice, but I think I was too young to appreciate the humour. I was just terrified. __________________
