I have not watched ''The Parent Trap'' from 1961. Curious how similar it is to the remake in 1998 with that title.

That's the one I grew up with. Considering how much more "rudimentary" special effects would have been back then, it's pretty impressive.

I haven't committed it to memory or everything, but it's just a bit different. Both parents are American, for instance. She lives in... I want to say Boston, and he's a California rancher of some sort. There are no comic-relief staff working for the parents and I don't believe the mother was a fashion designer of any kind...

There was a musical number, too.

They look good. "Hello, Dolly!" is available to watch on Disney+. "Orpheus" from 1950 is on HBOMAX & I'll likely catch that film tonight.

I've nevear heard of that one.

Of course, I know who Jean Cocteau was.I expect it must have been some sort of poetic exploration of certain themes.

You hadn't heard the film or story of ''Orpheus'' before? I did see as well on HBOMAX that they have the original ''Cat People'' film available to stream there. I did not know that the 1982 ''Cat People'' film was a remake. I have watched that 1 that Nastassja Hinski, Malcolm McDowell, Annette O'Toole, & John Heard starred in, among others.

I studied Ancient Greek mythology, so I had heart of the Orpheus myth... but I've studied about a hundred Greek/Roman myths. They get confused. And I didn't associate the name of the movie with the Greek myth.

That movie looks like a trip!

That's the remake. Here's the poster of the original ''Cat People'' film:

It's interesting to see the stylistic differences.

We're definitely still under the Hays Code there.
