Movies Fanatics #1: We can memorize our favorite lines but not our homework.

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

"Love means never having to say you're sorry."

"Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

"Stella! Hey, Stella!"

"What we've got here is failure to communicate."

Discuss your favorite movies here!

Awesome. I think I love movies more than I love tv shows.

Tina 05-08-2013 08:45 PM

Me too, April. Can you guess all the lines (without googling) that's in the OP? :D

1. Gone With the Wind (Even though I still haven't seen that movie)
2. A Walk to Remember?
3. Drawing a blank...I know I know the quote
4. Taking a stab in the dark How Stella Got Her Grove Back?
5. Not sure

Oooh classics! Well, some.

1. "Frankly, my dear I don't give a damn" is Gone With the Wind.

2. "Love means, never having to say sorry." is Love Story.

3. "Louis, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship." an oldie, but a goodie and can never get tired of is Casablanca.

4. "Stella, hey Stella" happens to bee A Streetcar Named Desire with Oscar Wild. This is the scene before she walks out on him and he drops to his knees screaming "STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" .. When he kept calling her name she was ignoring him.

5. "Failure to communicate" is Cool Hand Luke with Paul Newman (My grandmother's favorite actor.. Well one of.)

With Cool Hand Luke, before she moved to the private care home all my grandmother wanted to do was watch Paul Newman movies. I grew up on classics, the first film I watched with my grandmother that I can remember correctly when I was a child was all the Shirley Temple movies it was Bright Eyes with Shirley Temple, also my grandmother is 2 years older than Shirley Temple. From there I just grew up watching the old black and white classics, and to this day still love them.

I love classics too, Mandie! You got them all right. :)

Nice try, April! If I didn't put together the quotes, I don't think I would have gotten #5.

I watched The Nun's Story yesterday with Audrey Hepburn - I really liked it.

LLamacorn In Training 05-10-2013 12:57 AM

I love all Oscar Wild films no matter what it is, but that's because I was a theatre major for two years and the professor I had always insisted every semester we watch something by Oscar Wild to see what the world is missing this day in age.

So I don't know how the next part goes. Do I chose random quotes and see who can guess next?

Tina 05-10-2013 08:35 AM

Oh, I just put the quotes up for fun; no need to continue unless you want to. :D

I haven't really watched any classics. I do want to watch Gone With the Wind. Never seen it. But that quote is so famous from the movie.

Tina 05-10-2013 05:04 PM

It is quite famous. Plus these too:

As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again.

Scarlett: Tara! Home. I'll go home. And I'll think of some way to get him back. After all... tomorrow is another day

Someone tell Netflix to put it on streaming.

I really want to see The Great Gatsby.

Tina 05-10-2013 08:55 PM

The old one (With Robert Redford), or the new one? :)

Netflix is pretty awesome.

Violent Delights 05-11-2013 06:37 AM

I'd guess the new one

It's even better once you access the US content  :D

Tina 05-11-2013 08:42 PM

I'm not sure what you mean by "US content." Are you talking about a different program than Netflix? :)

What's everyone's favorite movie?

Drunk On You 05-11-2013 09:10 PM

I'm not sure if I have a favorite.

Off the top of my head probably Dirty Dancing or Top Gun.

I do love LotR triolgoy and the Star Wars movies.
