:lmao: Oh well, everyone has different taste, luckily :lmao:

But, without trying to sound.. well... like everything in Europe is better or something (because I'm sure it's not :lol:): when I was in the US, we had súch a hard time finding decent ground coffee for our filter machine :eek: The first one we tried really tasted like... well... dish water with some coffee taste somewhere in the back :lol: So we ended up buying Starbucks coffee to put in our filter machine :lol: expensive, but the only coffee that tasted like.. well, coffee :P
We were sooo glad when we finally had some time in some small town in Virginia to go to a coffee shop to drink some decent coffee :D

Because. Just because :lol:
Why it's popular where I live? Probably because 16-year old girls see it on tv and in movies, and then every 16-year old girls drinks it, SO it's popular.
I think it's just warm milk with sugar (for 5 euros! :eek:), but I think I already made that clear :lmao: But yeah, it's supposed to taste like pumpkin pie, not that anyone here ever has pumpkin pie :lol:

It's basically a drinkable pumpkin pie :lol: sort of... Someone had the bright idea to take the spices from baking and added it to coffee, tea, bread, bagels, chocolate bars... Now we're overrun with pumpkin spice everything from September to January

It actually sounds delicious. We have pumpkin pie here in South Africa. I love pie. We call it "tert" here.

A "pie" is usually meant for something with meat in it.

Our "national" brand is "House of Coffees" like your Starbucks but the most exotic thing we have on the menu is "Horlick's Milkshakes" or "Nutella" flavored coffee. Both of which are delicious.

Like the Dutch 'taart' :D I like the South African language, it's funny when you're Dutch :P

Nutella flavored coffee?! :lmao: Awesome!

Don't think we really have a 'national' brand of coffee houses. 'Douwe Egberts' is more or less our national brand of coffee, but they don't have a lot of coffee shops (fun fact: 'coffee shop' means something entirely different in The Netherlands :lmao:). At things like train stations, almost every shop has coffee, and most of them are more or less the same in price and quality, some are somewhat better and more expensive. And then you have Starbucks, invading our country and train stations :lmao:

Afrikaans has a bunch of dutch words. Interesting fact for you: Duits (which sounds almost like "dutch" when you say it aloud) actually means German whilst Hollands means Dutch in my mothertongue.

What is the dutch word for cat?

Mazza d'Evill 11-25-2015 05:30 AM

'Dutch' in The Netherlands is 'Nederlands' (or 'Hollands', but never say that to anyone from the southern half of The Netherlands :P) while Germany is called 'Duitsland' and the language 'Duits' as well, so that's more or less the same :D
It's just messed up that the English speaking part of the world calls our language 'Dutch', and confusing for a lot of people :lmao:

The Dutch word for 'cat' is 'kat' (or 'poes', but that's mainly used for a female cat).

That word for female cat is a very, very vulgar word where I come from.

I was in high school when I learned that Dutch and German are not the same thing. Ignorance is a worldwide thing.:confused:

Just had like three cups of coffee today :love:

Mi||iê Måë 11-25-2015 07:57 PM

Yeah, it can be used as a vulgair word too (meaning 'pussy' :P).
And every time people try and talk Dutch in (usually American) movies/tv shows, it sounds like German, not Dutch :lmao:

Had two espressos today at home, but no coffee at university! My stomach didn't feel like it...

Mi||iê Måë 11-26-2015 05:31 PM

Having my coffee finally....had such a terrible headache all day and it never occurred to me to have a coffee! :crazy:

BlackWhiteRose 11-27-2015 11:57 AM

Thursday at my parents house they grinded up roasted French vanilla coffee beans and some sort of strudel coffee beans...not together but for two separate pots of coffee....smelled so delicious:drool: but as usual, the coffee taste ruined it for me :lol: I'm always gonna be the girl who loves the smell of of the different kinds of coffee while grinding/ brewing but hates the taste. ::blush:
