We have them in Montreal in the summer. It is an island, after all.

Yes, as an island too, we also get lots of seagulls. In Whitby I love how close I could get to photograph them, like in these photos. They have no fear!

Well, yeah. England is obviously an island.

I just think people forget that Montreal is an island sometimes, because we're far inland.

I want to say that I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to forget that Britain is an island... but then I hesitate.

If you include Scotland and Wales - all of the UK except Northern Ireland, then no one is further than 70 miles from the sea.

I love the seaside and wish I could go to one again some day.

I miss the actual seaside as well.

We're further from actual coasts here, even though we are an island. It's very much a freshwatet island.

Yes, seasides are amazing.

I took this photo today. I was going to change the birds' water and was waiting for the pigeon to move away from it. He sauntered away after a moment and didn't seem fazed at all with me being close by. Then he went and sat down on one of the borders, and I fetched my camera. I edged closer and closer until I was able to get a few close-up shots, zooming in as usual, and no flash. I couldn't believe I could get that close, and he didn't bat an eyelid!

I didn't even need to crop this photo.
