Okay Guys I just got this brain fart...

I was thinking of starting a site to hold all things felicity but specifically clips..

my thing is last time the person who hosted the other site couldn't afford all on thier own..

so my idea is this i can start it..but i thought we could all donate some money to keep it up and running...if its too expensive we can axe the idea...but i was thinking it might be a good idea...and also convenient for our video makers.

What do you guys think?

My brain is bad with abbreviations so what is AARP?

Basically, I am looking for a host.. Someone with a server that can handle lots of video clips. I have a program to help me design the program. It would be kind of like Amanda's site but more general...not just for FABs. I was thinking of a section for Episode clips, Fanmade Video's, FanFiction, Transcripts. It would be a home for a lot of the felicity related things we do.

I am currently still looking into different hosts. I will post teh different prices i get quoted...and then i was thinking of letting the host now that we would be splitting the costs...

I have two options for you to choose from.

This is a little difficult to organize since we are group rather than an individual.

1. We could sign up with Geocities yahoo paid hosting service

-We get 2G space
-5 email accounts for 8.95/month plus 15 dollar registration fee

(we can add 4 GB for an extra 20 bucks a month)

*the problem is you must have a credit card and a yahoo email address.

2. CNET 6.95/month

but you pay quarterly.

So from June 27-Sept 27 it would be 26.43 plus a one time 11.95 charge for registering the domain name

-it includes 5000MB of disk space (5GB)

*the bonus is that it accepts pay pal in addition to credit cards.

We could just have one person run this...split the cost amongst each other...we would only have to pay 27 bucks 3 times a year

Which comes to 92.95 for one year.

Lets say we divide it amongst five of us...that makes it 18.59 per person.

Genki, would you be able to run the site? I can't really take on another website (since I can't seem to keep my one existing site updated!), but I would gladly help with the cost.

But Genki, wouldn't it be less complicated if you opened a LJ community and upload the clips there ? You wouldn't have to pay and you could put all the clips you want. Just an idea...But whatever you do, I think it's a great idea and if you need any help, I'm here

Okay I have taken MaRie's advice and opened up an lj community. if you do not have lj account you can set it up.. This will make an easy way for people to post all sorts of media stuff...once this gets going if it works.. I might revisit the idea of a separate site for everything...but for now this will have to do

You can upload them with megaupload, sendspace, etc. You just have to put the links there.

hmm that was the sort of thing i was hoping to avoid but i know that megaupload lasts for like 6 months so i could always refresh....well if anyone has any fan arts they want to post go ahead...I am doing a special site for the transcripts using geocities.
