Brian De Palma directed this 1987 gem. Kevin Costner plays federal agent, Eliot Ness, who puts together a team of men he names 'The Untouchables' to help bring down Al Capone (Robert DeNiro) during prohibition in 1930's Chicago.

Thanks. It is a very good film. I thought we needed some more films that were nominated for Oscars. Plus, it has one hell of a scene that was a shootout at a train station. You can part of it as a gif in the OP. It was all in slow motion too with a baby carriage going down the steps.

I bet that was intense.

It was. Great, great scene. They re-created and spoofed it in the beginning of "The Naked Gun 3".

Anybody else know this one? I actually saw it at the Drive-In a few blocks down from my house.

I thought it was fitting to touch on some movies here that were up for Academy Awards in honor of the Oscars tonight. This one was nominated for 4 Oscars - Supporting Actor (Sean Connery), Costume Design, Original Score and Production Design. Connery won.

Barrybgb 03-23-2019 08:15 AM

Sean Connery wasn't an easy sell on this movie. He didn't want to play a character who was older than he was and who was the "old mentor". He also wasn't sure because it was a supporting part. I am sure he glad he took it because he won his only Oscar for it.

Melis 03-23-2019 05:29 PM

I bet he's glad too.
