The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) - Close your eyes and sleep forever!

This 1982 cult classic is about 18 year old senior, Trish, who decides to invite some friends over to her house for a slumber party after her parents leave for the weekend. With her neighbor supposed to be looking out for them, no one counted on a party crasher - an insane killer with a drill for a weapon.

Written by a woman and directed by a woman, the movie was supposed to be a parody of slasher films and how women were always exploited. The producers wanted the film to be straight, so the end result is a hybrid of a movie that plays it very straight but has more intended humor than other slasher films.

It's cheesy fun.

Melis 10-07-2014 09:49 PM

I like cheesy.

Barrybgb 10-08-2014 09:37 AM

Well, it's full of cheese. Lol.

Melis 10-08-2014 10:02 PM

Oh goodie

Barrybgb 10-10-2014 09:38 AM

A lot of the humor and cheese was intended though.

Melis 10-10-2014 09:06 PM

Nothing wrong there

Barrybgb 10-11-2014 02:06 PM

Because like I said, the writer and director intended it to be a spoof on the exploitation of the genre and of women, but the studio wanted it straight. So, it's a mish mash.

A compromise

Barrybgb 10-12-2014 09:38 AM

I mean, the killer is a guy with a long drill that the women cut in half. Lol. A little symbolic there.

Melis 10-14-2014 04:54 PM

Haha

The special feature is cool. They go to the main house in the movie and the old guy who lives there let them film inside and tour. He was living there in '82 during the filming and is still there today. Cool old guy.

Melis 10-17-2014 10:37 AM

That's cool

Melis 01-08-2015 09:54 PM

I like special features.
