The prowler himself was played entirely by the movie's assistant director, except for the unmasking scene. The movie was also re-released in 1984 in some southern states as "Pitchfork Massacre".

The cemetery scenes were shot in a real cemetery on Halloween night of 1980. You couldn't of asked for a better place to shoot for a horror film on the best night.

I thought some of Tom Savini's best make-up was in this. The exploding head, the knife through the skull, etc. He has done splashier things, but it was quality work.
