Thread #5 for the beloved action/comedy franchise. Mel Gibson stars as Martin Riggs, an unhinged cop on the brink of suicide. He is partnered with Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), a family man on the verge of retirement. The two mismatched partners quickly become friends as they battle the bad guys over the course of four films in 1987, 1989, 1992 and 1998.

Nah. So are a lot of other actors still making action movies and being in franchises like this. I have been hoping for a 5th film and I hope it happens. I can see Riggs on the verge of retirement like Murtaugh in the first film. Murtaugh is obviously long retired so there has to be something that gets him back in things. An idea of my own I had was that Riggs is now Murtaugh basically. Getting too old for this ****. He has a younger partner who reminds Riggs of himself back then. He is getting ready for retirement. An old bad guy they put away long ago is out and getting revenge on everyone who was a part of his case and knocking them off one by one. This gets Murtaugh in it. Basically, Riggs' last assignment is to stop this guy and protect Roger. At the end, they ride into the sunset on Rog's boat.

I like this idea. What does everyone else think?

Riggs: "What did one shepherd say to the other shepherd? Let's get the flock out of here."

I certainly think it is. I mean, if 'Die Hard' is considered one then this should be.

Mel is talking "Lethal Weapon 5" again. He was on GMA and he said he went to see Danny in a play the other night with the franchise's director, Richard Donner, and said they were talking. He then just said "Eh, maybe."

The Murtaugh house is right next door to the Griswald's house from 'Christmas Vacation'.

I like the note they left on the Christmas tree. I can't remember all of it but started with "Dear Bad guys".
