This 1982 movie stars Lawrence Monoson(Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter) as Gary. The film follows Gary and his high school friends Rick(Steve Antin, "The Goonies") and David as they embark on teenage adventures to have sex. Gary soon sees and falls for a girl at school(Diane Franklin, "Better Off Dead") who becomes Rick's latest conquest. The movie shifts between early 80s teenage sexcapades and one with true heart and emotion. It's widely regarded as one of the few movies of it's kind to have an ending that turns out like it does.

The movie also boasts one of the raddest soundtracks. Appearing in the movie are songs such as "Whip It"(Devo), "Open Arms"(Journey), "Keep On Loving You"(REO Speedwagon), "Just Once"(James Ingram), "Shake It Up"(The Cars), "I Will Follow"(U2), "In The Flesh"(Blondie), and "I Know What Boys Like"(The Waitresses). The soundtrack also includes songs from The Police, Oingo Boingo, Tommy Tutone, and Human League.

Hailed by many as an underrated, overlooked 80s movie.

I don't know this one, but it's probably not one I would have been allowed to see as a child. lol

I had heard of it, but never saw it. Then I started reading up on it and it is this great, unsung teen movie of the 80s for many people. I definitley did enjoy it. As I wrote, it has a rockin' soundtrack. And yes, you wouldn't of been allowed. Quite a bit of nudity and adult situations. Lol. But it takes a different turn about halfway through. It's kind of like Porky's meets Fast Times with a pinch of John Hughes heart and emotion.

And, as I wrote in the main post, it doesn't end like a typical teen movie.

I might try to get see it sometime.

Yeah, I think anyone would probably like it. If you are on this board and into these movies, then this would probably be one to see if you haven't yet. I mean, it doesn't match or eclipse most of the classics, but it's a good addition.

Melis 09-23-2010 08:41 PM

And it is still available on DVD?

Barrybgb 09-24-2010 08:34 AM

Yep. In fact it was released on DVD not that long ago. My DVD came out in 2003. I've seen one with a different cover, but I am not sure if that one is older or newer. Either way, I have seen it in some stores.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out.

Barrybgb 10-19-2010 12:15 PM

Do. I think it's worth it.

Melis 10-19-2010 05:53 PM

Probably no stores have it.

Barrybgb 10-20-2010 08:31 AM

I've seen it in some places here. If not, there's always Amazon.

Melis 10-20-2010 05:47 PM

Yeah, I buy from them a lot. lol

One of my favorite moments is when the main guy is trying to take the bra off of a girl on the couch. The girl in question, um, is what makes it funny. Not your typical girl you would see in such a scene. Nerdy, frizzy hair, and so on. She's just eating her popcorn and he's literally putting her in a choke hold as he tries to get her bra unsnapped. She continues to eat away and is like "what are you doing?" Lol.

Melis 10-21-2010 03:10 PM

Sounds awkward. lol

Barrybgb 10-22-2010 08:39 AM

It is, but it's funny. Lol.
