The Go Go's are the first all girl band to write their own music and perform their own instruments. They blasted onto the scene in 1981 with their debut album, "Beauty And The Beat", which was #1 on the Billboard charts for six weeks straight. Hit singles off this album include "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got The Beat".
Their follow up hits include "Vacation" and "Head Over Heels". The group disbanded in 1985.

The group reunited in 1994 for a 2 disc collection called "Return To The Valley Of The Go Go's" and again in 2001 for "God Bless The Go Go's", their first all new studio album since 1985. Today, the ladies still do the occassional appearance and concert/tour.
Lead Singer Belinda Carlisle enjoyed a successful solo career with hit singles such as "Mad About You", "Heaven Is A Place On Earth", "I Get Weak" and "Circle In The Sand".

I love The Go Go's. The 4 songs I mentioned and gave links to are pretty much it. A few others may of been top 40 hits, but not major. They only released 3 albums before they broke up. They are happy music!
They are, according to Wikipedia, the most successful all girl rock group of all time.

The awesome Jane Wiedlin, guitarist and songwriter for The Go Go's, is 54 today.
