It's a violent (not gory violent but martial arts violent) flick with a cool 80s backdrop of cheesy clothes, cool music and a nice quasi romance.

Bloodsport and Kickboxer are the two JCVD movies that I hold in highest regards as two of the cooler and better martial arts movies of the 80s and 90s (the 90s saw some weird ones, a stand out is Jackie Chan's Rumble in the Bronx)
