I can see how the blue collar, struggling single mom angle would still work today. The character of Mel would not however. They wouldn't have a Flo the way she was either and that was a big part of the show.

I can't find any pictures or anything anywhere but there was a Thanksgiving episode in 1982. It was called "Alice's Turkey Of A Thanksgiving", and it had her mother coming for Thanksgiving and driving her crazy by running her life.

It was. Doris Roberts played her mom. She seemed to play a lot of people's moms or aunts over the years.

That was their version of "A Christmas Carol". Mel was making them work on Christmas and he was visited by the ghost of his old partner.
