There was just something special about 80's horror films. It didn't matter if were one of the good ones or not so good ones, because they all had atmosphere. They all had this aura about them. It was just a parade of great, practical effects and make-up. Even the lesser ones had a lot to offer in this regard. They had some of the best posters as well. It was fun and special.

The ones I've seen are all special and fun. I haven't really seen many from other decades, though.

80s horror brought out one of the best elements in horror: camp. Campy horror films were so awesome in the 80s and haven't been the same since. While I consider the 70s the best decade for horror production (some of the greatest from all over the world came then) that 80s definitely has the most fun horror movies.

Yeah, the 70's were good too with "The Exorcist", "Halloween", "Texas Chainsaw", etc.
