Addison and Jake are engaged. Aw my girl is getting married! I can't stop smiling.
I'm so happy right now I don't know what to say about the rest of the episode, but I thought it was another good one. __________________

I don't know. The tone of the episode reminded me a lot of "Raines" – you remember perhaps Jeff Goldblum's shortlived show where he played a cop gone bananas after the death of his partner and talking to either him or the murder victim to solve the crimes. The reason why that came to mind was because I'm pretty sure they filmed at least one of the scenes on the same/similar spot by the sea as they did with Jake.
I'm really sick of MDs on TV shows slamming people with PhDs. I really really am. getting a PhD is a lot of work and – especially when we're talking science – not less mportant than becoming in medical doctor. I'm not entirely sure if it's TV people or the general public who do not understand that the point of it is perhaps (if at all) 30% education and 70% research. Research other people profit from eventually. I think the whole "oh we save lives" thing – which let's be honest the success rate depends very much of the case anyway – is incredibly overrated. Furthermore, I'd like to remind of a lot of times where medical research, led by MDs was ethically more than questionable. For instance, remember that one where they pretended to treat African-American men in the South for syphilis but all they didn't actually give them anything but just sat there and observed how the syphilis progressed. Now back to the show... I don't know how important teaching "human sexuality" really is but that's not the point. Isn't there this whole arrogant "if you can't do teach" saying? Yeah... you know if you can't "do" you would never get a PhD as you're screwed because how would you do your fieldwork, labwork etc. nobody is doing that for you and if you end up in the industry, it's certainly more about doing than anything, if you end up at a high-profile school the teaching portion is really small and you will have to do a lot in terms of getting grants and research to keep your position, if you're at a teaching college – yes, you teach, but how exactly is that not doing either? So... all these bloody shows making PhDs "apologize" for not being "real" doctors... hell they even make dermatologists apologize for not being "real" doctors... makes me insanely angry. Back to the episode – while I can understand Jake's inital freak-out about the drug dealer and while I can understand why he doesn't like his daughter dating a man his age (and I am myself very iffy about the part where he is her teacher, I mean he has to give her a grade, if they really wanted to do this the right way, if he really was an upright person he would have told Angela to drop his class) – I think his underlying anger issues are there and somewhat scary. I want Addison to be happy but I don't know if I am feeling it. I don't think she ever had a very good hand picking men – I assume she was happy with Derek for a while (ten years or so before the marriage fell apart) but other than that, I don't know. Throughout PP I sometimes thought that even Karev would have been a better candidate (and I do not ship this). I'm glad Amelia went on her non-date even though Dr. Petersen has funny hair. (Okay that was shallow) But if all else fails good chips (and vinegar... and was there fish) can bring you a bit of joy, I suppose. __________________

I hope there won't be an Addison and Jake wedding episode. I cringed when she proposed, then he proposed and she accepted. I don't think Jake is right for her.
Hopefully there will be some closure with the missing girl before the series ends. It would be nice if she is found safe and sound. __________________
