Well, it might have carried on for a little longer with Patrick Troughton without regeneration, but I don't think it would have lasted much longer.

No, no, the series really thrived on changing the lead actor's faces unlike any before or since. Only series or franchise that comes close is the James Bond franchise only they dont bother explaining or acknowledging the change.

it really does cause realistically UK shows only last 4 or 5 seasons so DW would of ended awhile ago thank god it didnt

It is my understanding that the BBC considered ending the new series after Series Four, but RTD protested loud enough that they changed their minds...
