There's only one thing to do though and that is to start watching. We must all start somewhere. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and all that!

Oh absolutely! Just dive right in. You're either going to do it or you aren't. There's really very little middle ground.

I have sent you plenty of links though, so finding them shouldn't be too troublesome...

So tell me good friend, what Ainley story do you rank at the top of his Who output? I rather enjoy The King's Demons. Its short but great as far as I can see it.

Well obviously Derek Jacobi has talent in spades, he can make any role his own.

There's a reason why he's had so much success as a stage actor and so many modern actors wouldn't make it for one second in that world.

Ah a fellow Jacobi fan! Yes, he was brilliant as the Master in both Scream of the Shalka and Utopia. I kind of wish we could have him back in the part instead of having to put up with Michelle Gomez.

I would rather anyone over Gomez! But my first choices would be Charles Dance or James Purefoy...

Better than Gomez, Simm and Roberts but not as good as Delgado, Beevers, Jacobi or Ainley

Well, he was wearing a mask and had a one-shot performance like Roberts, only his sole story is a classic. I think that I would prefer Beevers over Pratt as well. He certainly has done a fair share of audio stories in the part, notably the 50th anniversary story, The Light at the End, which I can't praise enough.

So who wonders what it would have been like had Rose met the Master in Series 1 or 2 instead of Martha meeting him in Series 3??
