The Second Doctor/Patrick Troughton Appreciation Thread #2 "Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority."

Troughton is a favorite amongst many, especially the actors who end up playing the Doctor. As Colin Baker said here if he was a less talented actor the show would have sunk and we would not have any doctors to compare. Besides he was not only talented he was brilliant. He really brought out the affection to his companions and got to be here when it was definitely decided that the Doctor is an alien.

Matt Smith frequently lists the "Tomb of the Cybermen". Of the few stories from this era I have seen I like "The Mind Robber" (Love it when the behind the scenes people do something great with pretty much no budget.

Don't know how to embed things so here are some other tribute videos.

Troughton is my 2nd favourite, and I would argue, the single most important Doctor, with the toughest job of them all. While I have a few, my #1 Troughton story is also THE cybermen story, The Invasion. 8 parts long, but feels like 4 parts. Of course, you also have:

The Enemy Of The World
The Web Of Fear
The Moonbase
The Tombs Of The Cybermen
The Ice Warriors
The War Games
Power Of The Daleks
The Mind Robber

Yeah, Hartnell was hit by the wiping process at the BBC too, but not as bad as Troughton. 13 of his 21 stories have made it to DVD, most are complete in their original form, while the rest have been completed either by animated episodes or by telesnaps.

As for The Invasion, it's 60's Who at it's best (imo). It begins like a detective thriller, then half way through, something happens, and the story changes gears into something else.

Great artwork! Always my favourite doctor.
I recently got a new story for my collection: Power of the Daleks which has been animated. I'd read the book and heard the audio before, but the animated version was very good.

It really is. I hope they do more. I'd love to watch Fury From the Deep.

A little reminder to everyone that The Macra Terror is released next month (the 18th in the UK, not sure about anywhere else).

I've had a look around, and it looks like the US will get it in October.
