Well you have to look at the other side of the picture:

Be Cool's reviews have been about 200% more positive than TP's reviews.
The cast of Be Cool includes John Travolta and Uma Thurman
It's the sequel to Get Shorty and it's also rated PG-13.
So that's why all the predictions have been that that will win the box office battle.

I still believe Be Cool will come out on top - it all depends on the Saturday tickets - if both films hold study for the Saturday then the Pacifier will come out on top, since it earned the extra million on the first day - originally the pundits were saying around $22 million for the weekend but now they're thinking it might make $27 million - if it makes $20-22 million I'd be happy

Okay some reviews

Negative Review

The movie is greatly helped by Lauren Graham, who offers the same likable quirky charm as a school principal as she does in "Gilmore Girls."

Positive Review

Lauren Graham, playing the world’s sexiest principal and Diesel’s obligatory love interest, lends her usual soothing screen presence.

I just saw The Pacifier again with Alexis this time. It was better the second time around. I think it had to do with the packed audience. I'll let Alexis give her view on the movie, but the families we saw it with really seemed to enjoy it. The woman next to me cried during the Brittany Snow crying scene. And after the movie ended I heard one little boy say "That is the best movie I have ever seen!" It was really cute.

I love it that even when movies aren't positively favored by the critics, they always have something great to say about Lauren's performance. She's so awesome.

That part got to me, too. I had full-on tears for that scene.

I'm glad you liked it better the second time, Alicia.

I think the Pacifier has a fighting chance. I didn't even know "Be Cool" was out this weekend until yesterday when I saw a blurb about it. I never saw the trailer on tv and heard no buzz about it. Fortunately for the makers of this film, I don't think people rely on reviews whatsoever when it comes to "family" films. There really aren't enough choices for kid flicks and given the fact that TP has had a ton of press and I've seen the trailer on tv at least 3 dozen times bodes well for all involved.

And as far as the critics' reviews are concerned, any press is good press.

I definitely agree Stacy, I was tearing up during Britney's crying scene.

It was so freaking cute, as we we were walking out this little 8 year old boy behind us says "That was the best movie ever! I'm telling all my friends" and all his little buddies he was with were like "Yeah! It's my favorite movie!" Aw.

It was PACKED with people of all ages by the way. I think it'll do very well at the box office.

It thought the movie had real heart, weak script, but great heart, cute as hell kids, and some laughs.

My favorite, the baby's crying and she asks Vin if he changed his diaper.
Shane: No. Will you help me?
Principal Claire: No.

As for Lauren, I think my favorite part was her stunt. She had this really angry face, jumps off the wall to kick the guy and then basically shoves him down 3 or 4 times. The love interesty stuff at the end was kind of abrupt, but Lauren made it really sweet. The kisses too, she kind of pecked him twice, you could tell she was enjoying his lips. Also, she was gorgeous in the dress at the end.

I hope someone is able to put up screencaps eventually.

ETA: I now think Vin's hot. LOL I'll shallowly admit it was the shower/walking around in only a towel scene that drew me to the conclusion. My god those arms! If I was Lauren, I'd have tried to hang off of them too!

lmao it's amazing how that can draw people into thinking he's hot

Alas, I have to wait over a month now to see the film - though on Arena (pay-tv)the other night at the end of Gilmore Girls they did have an ad for the movie with details of a competition they're running - I couldn't help but chuckle - considering the promo they showed was the original trailer

Re: HSX I use to play it years ago - though I should really go in and see how my stocks are going - of course it would help if I remembered my pword and the reminder pword wasn't sent to my old email addy *g*

I saw the movie last night and though I'll admit, I didn't really like the movie, Lauren Graham made it compltely worth it.

She really needs a main lead in a movie, though possibly it's Gilmore girls that's stopping her cause she doesn't have a lot of time, I hope to see her be the main role in something because no matter who she is or what she has to do, she never ceases to amaze me. So to imagine her being the main character would be great.

She has such great chemistry with the men she works with. Her and Vin were hot in this movie! I was almost screaming at the screen when they were about to kiss the first time. It's so funny to see her kissing somebody (...other than Luke!)

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. Keep postin!

Okay this is more a ramble in general - not TP related

In all seriousness though, if she wanted to do a lead role in a film she could technically still do an indie film lead role in her 2 months off, since the majority of Indie films wrap up within 28 days, etc. But finding the right project and not just one that won't ever see the light of day is the keep to it all

Once GG is finished though then she can actually take on a lead role that will film for more than 2 months, until then I've got a feeling she'll either do the above or take on supporting role to add some more gold stars to her gradually rising resume.

Also you have to remember One True Thing - one of the first major films she did etc, had one of those dream casts - so technically when you look at that she set herself a very high pedestal there in acting quality - what I'd give to see her in a film with those kinds of actors again (The Moguls I think is one that will be very close to that - even though her part is small).

I saw The Pacifier tonight. It's a lot better than I thought it would be. I enjoyed it the whole way through and it was funny. The only thing I hated was the vice principal, the guy from Everybody Loves Raymond. He annoys me.

Found the article which accompanies the audio interview - they just put it online @ Movieweb

Lauren Graham, TV mom on Gilmore Girls, fields a few more offers for films, but few coordinate with the show's schedule. "I'd been trying to work with [director] Adam Shankman and he offered this to me," Graham said. "I knew him a little bit socially. There was another movie that didn't work out either. He's a fan of the show. I knew I'd have a great time and it fit. There was something I really wanted to do last year, but it started a month before the show ended. They tried to work it out. Yeah, it's a crazy schedule."

Graham's role as the nice principal, good cop to Garrett's bad cop, is a departure from her sassy Lorelai Gilmore and Santa fetishist Sue in Bad Santa. "I have this character I do every day so anything is sort of a refreshing change. Anything is such a slower pace. We cram, we do 12 pages regularly on the TV show [daily]. You never have enough time. I talk so much. My brain is working overtime. I'm memorizing. So any new experience, I get a lot out of. The Billy Bob movie was more of a character to build. Here, I'm serving the hero and trying to be real and natural and smooch him at the end. It wasn't so much about creating a character. I really love to work so it was fun."

It will take a few more film roles before Graham thinks she can pick and choose her projects. "I've been the lead in a TV show but never the lead in a movie. That's a different process and I'm not there yet. As long as I can keep working with different people and working my way up then it's really satisfying for me. I think from Bad Santa, all the stuff I'm reading, I'm on top of some guy. It's gratifying because I didn't used to get seen that way before, but once they see you play a ho, then, man, you're in the like ‘Let's get her to play that sleazy role' [club]. But it's fun. The parts for women, you're either like the quietly suffering wife or you're the wild girl. As long as I can do a bit of both, I guess."

Hee Hee! Yay. Seriously, I don't know about ya'll, but last night the theater we were in there was not an empty seat, even in the sucky really up close seats at the bottom. They had good timing with this release also, because there really aren't any other kid appropriate movies out right now.
