It is true what everyone says about Lauren in person. She is sooooo pretty. And slim. I'm glad I signed up as volunteer at TIFF08 and my choice of venue was just pure luck because I signed up back in July when there's no info about anything at all in terms of movies and stars coming to Toronto. I had hoped for a red carpet, that's all, because I know Elgin usually has one or more during the festival. And I got more than I bargained for. Although I didn't get to take photos nor literally rub elbows with the FoG stars, it's a no-no for volunteers, at least I got to see Lauren. A dream come true.

Marc introduced a couple of producers from Spyglass, then the writer. Next he called in Alan, then Lauren and last but not least Greg. He praised all the actors' contribution to the movie citing their admirable talents. In introducing Lauren, Marc said something like finding an actress for the role who is sympathetic to love of family and who loves children plus beauty thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, Lauren didn't stay for the screening. Greg walked down the steps which caught Lauren off guard. She managed to reach out to tap Greg on the shoulder presumably to tell him she was leaving. Alan who was walking behind Lauren looked surprised to see Lauren leave through the back stage. He was kind of lost whether to follow Lauren or Greg. But he did stay, as well as Marc. They all sat together in one of the rows of seats that were reserved for them. I'm not sure if Greg stayed till end of the movie (I did notice the door open in the middle of screening) but Marc and Alan did.

Oh and while behind the podium, Marc acknowledged the presence of 3 Kearns siblings in the audience. Well I knew Bob was there. As I mentioned in my post a while back, I saw him talk to someone who turned out to be Ellevee. At the time it didn't occur to me as the same Ellevee from FF. Had I known I would've loved to chat with her, you know, about Lauren. I did notice a camcorder hanging from her neck. I remember chuckling to myself worried it might be squashed as she and Bob both hugged. And not only did I personally witness a Lauren sighting in the flesh I got to watch the movie as well. This is one experience I will never, never forget. I sure hope TDOTR comes to TIFF09. You bet I will be here in the thick of pure excitement.

Thanks for sharing, bubbletea! :)

Many celebs don't stay to watch their movie, so I don't think it's weird that Lauren left!

It's not unusual for Lauren not to stay for the movie. In fact they're not obliged. Lucky she even showed up. Some A-listers do snub their own premieres. I feel sorry for those who spend on premium tickets for these special screenings (they cost an arm and a leg, $40.00 buckaroos!). I myself don't mind spending that much as long as I get more bang for my buck. Also, some directors let their stars say a word or two up on stage. I had hoped Marc would do that. But that would be pushing my luck anyways. It could be possible that Lauren stayed in the visa lounge backstage. But waiting that long? She probably snuck out the back door. If I wasn't working, I would've left the theatre and catch her at the back entrance. Unfortunately they don't allow people to go back inside the theatre to watch the film. But, hey, at least I'd have Lauren to myself even for a second or two. Granting no one else had the same idea. But then again it was raining so I doubt Lauren would've stopped to sign autographs or take photos with fans.

Here's a witty quip at the premiere: before introducing Marc, the TIFF moderator said they actually let the rain happen that day in keeping with the movie's theme...good one!

BTW I'd pay $40 or more with a chance to see Lauren, mind you I would have spend $1000s to get there so what's another $40?

I spotted Lauren Graham who lately has been a swine about signing at all. I don’t know what it is… usually when you stop working you become nicer but not Lauren, who lately has become a really rude person. She’s constantly ignoring us or having some excuse other than just signing. Its sad because she used to be very nice… You can tell from the look on her face, she’s not happy to see us.

If their faces are everywhere she goes I can understand why she's not happy to see them
