Well the casting notice for Alex expired today so no idea if they have cast him yet. There are a lot of scenes though in the film that don't need background extras, hence why that March 31 start date could be for background actors. Especially since the location managers are for a March 24 starting date.

Personally I think it's pre-production March 17, filming March 24, scenes with background actors March 31 (such as the bookstore, streets, school, park, etc). I'm probably wrong but it leaves the door open for the possibility of filming before March 31.

The only sure thing is filming is to wrap May 1. And Jeff won't be required that day because he's to be in Rock Island that night for his concert.
Can someone explain to me the difference between an extra and a background extra? or is there a difference? I'm new to this whole thing since I signed up so I want to know what they specifically mean by that.

Like when I filled out the form I filled it out under to be considered for "extra" work but there is a seperate section for background work that says they are no longer accepting applications for at this time? Just confused that's all!

joy:sorry for asking but i couldn't follow all the discussion and i'm a bit curious ;): so, you are going to apply for a role? if i'm right: wow! i really hope you'll get the chance to appear in this movie....and i'm not envious at all :D
if i'm wrong...cross out the last few lines ;)

Chrissi

I submitted to be an extra but currently for some reason they're only taking SAG extra's which I'm not since I just signed up. You must get 3 waivers and pay a fee to be a SAG member which is very hard to do. So right now I guess that's all they want is the experienced workers for the film. But who knows. Anyways, if not I'll probably just try and scope lauren out somewhere in the city. It's my chance mind as well try.

Edit: I think I figured out that there really isn't a difference just the difference between SAG, Non- Union, etc. I know how it all works but I wonder why they're only casting for SAG members. I think to be an extra, anyone can do it, but I guess in some movies they'd prefer some people with experience in working as an extra. I remember for The Lovely bones and Our Lady of Victory they casted for extras in our local paper but I guess they don't do that for every movie. Maybe they'll eventually get some non-union people to work the film as well. If not I'll shoot for another movie at another time ;)

thanks for the info joy :)
sounds really interesting and somehow complicated.i hope you'll get the chance to meet lauren (in front of the camera or behind)!

You never know Joy, maybe they'll pick you anyways. :)

Gilmoregirl82 03-16-2008 05:23 PM

maybe. But its not a big deal. I just hope they film somewhere close to me. Philly's pretty big so they could shoot as far as an hour away! I hope it's some place familiar.

-Denise- 03-17-2008 12:25 AM

I would drive an hour to get to see Lauren

*Chrissi* 03-17-2008 04:00 AM

Lucky I'm not rich or I'd probably fly to there :P

Gilmoregirl82 03-17-2008 11:29 AM

LOL

well trust me it's my opportunity I'm going to do my best. However I remember waiting outside for Mark Wahlberg this past decemeber and we waited hours to meet him! It was worth it though. Atleast this time around it will be much warmer so I won't have to sit wrapped in a blanket sipping hot chocolate!!
