Hi everyone ,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customising message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or colour suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colours will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the design seeds website.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us .

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colours will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customised look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customised will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customisation process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Rae or Mel a PM or ask the Team on the message board customisation thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customised.

Note: It usually takes less than two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have made and voted on a winning graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colours get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

There are so many possibilities to choose from for your graphic. Winners, judges, general representation of the show? Just to name a few.. I am sure you could come up with others

I encourage all posters/fans of AI to voice your opinions in here as it is a hard decision to make and the more opinions that are here the easier it may be to make that decision on what is best for the board

As for colors, I had an idea about going from all blue to blue-red-white maybe? I would like to keep the blue but it would be nice to see some change too. Red comes from the Red Room and, obviously, it's the American Idol, so the American colors.

It could work?

If we stick with mainly blue with red in small doses (E.G. the links, buttons, possibly the top bar if it was the right shade). And then white could be used in the posting area. That is hat least how I see it working; someone else on the team may see it differently

. But those colours could work and it is nice to introduce some variety in the colours and not just have different shades of the one colour.

A part of me likes the idea of using all the winners but they would be small since there is 15(?) Of them.It is something you can do now as unless they bring the show back one day it covers the entire show and presumably what people love about it - the artists discovered. Of course it does not include some fan favourites who did not win but are still loved but I would not recommend including any more than 15/16 people in the graphic.

Agreed that the main color should still be blue but would definitely love to add another one.

I was actually thinking last night that another idea would be to maybe have 10-12 people as a mix of winners and fan-favourites who are the most popular on the board.

Exactly. I know red can be harsh but it could be a shade that is easier on the eyes. I just really want some variety, all blue is getting a bit boring to me.

Yes, there are 15 winners.

I like the idea of going with the winners and it would at least be easy, because who the winners are is based on a fact and not on popularity, and we wouldn't have to decide which ones to include.

Do you have any ideas for the other color(s)?

Including non-winner fan favorites would be nice in the sense that I definitely love some of those people more than some of the winners.

Of course it would be harder to decide which ones to include (obv. Adam would be one of them xD) but I definitely like this idea too.

I like red

It's also the theme of the ambiance when Ryan asks to dim the light when they eliminate someone xD Something like this or this maybe? This also, 1st, 2nd and 5th colors, and another.

So if we're going with the winners, which I don't disagree is easier.

I agree with including some fan favorites, since a lot of the winners aren't as popular as some others who didn't win the big prize but have now gained much more success.

From your list of "one or two" I want Kat and like Colton [personal preferences, of course lol]

My only 'issue' with fan favourites over winners is everyone has their own loves and you may get "why was X included"/"why is X not in the graphics". If you only have winners (regardless of their popularity) you can clearly say that it is the winners included. On the other hand you could say it was the fan favourites as voted when the board was customised too. It is up to you guys as you are the ones who post here.

Rae, yeah that's why I'm a bit torn, having the winners is the more logical choice but on the board (and in general), it is like Cece said, there are a lot of non-winners that are very popular and more so than some of the winners.

Laura, you're leaning more towards having the winners on there?

That's true Rae. It would also be a nice tribute to American Idol as a whole.

For the 'argument' of including fan favorites, we could possibly say because they are the more popular ones on the board?

Decisions, decisions!

Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are winners so I don't mind with either choice.

For me, the only non-winners, I really know are Adam Lambert and Katharine McPhee (more for acting for that one) and I do believe it would be a real shame to not have Adam included. Just for that alone I would lean towards fan favourites over winners. My only thing is that the winners are easier to explain.. but I do not know that anyone would question things and would not be the one needing to answer it if it was

I don't think there would be that much "questioning" about who's included. For the current posters, all our top favourites are in there and if later we get new ones, the reason of those being the favourites at the time of the customization makes the most sense.

So I realize we really need to make the final decision since it's already halfway through the round

And also, for variety, I think using pictures from photoshoots other than the ones in the most recent individual board customizations would work. I'm getting some pictures now and will post them either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

ETA: Added for Kelly, Carrie, Kris and Phillip. Will get the rest once we decide on the list. Laura, I left David picks for you in case you want a certain picture/photoshoot included
