Canadian Idol - Season Two Take One
I was pleased with some of the singers this year that they've shown. I don't know how the girl who sang the Little Mermaid song got thru and the girl before didn't . But then, I never really saw some of the things the judges saw last year either. Oh well.
I liked Serge (sp?). He had a great voice. The guy that Zack said that was the best singer they'd seen so far - I thought he was shouting Good thing I'm not a judge. I thought half of the ones that made it shouldn't've, and then they let others go (think Military Martha/Lisa L/Suzy). Hmph Anyways. I can't be the only Canuck here. So comeon and let's dish about the second year of CI __________________

I wish they aired it in the US! I really would have liked to have seen all of Ryan and Billy's performances last year (I only have the mp3's).
Anyone know where I can download last nights episode from? |

An Article about last night's show from the Winnipeg Sun:
Good, bad, and awful Canadian Idol search returns By PAT ST. GERMAIN The good, the bad and the hopelessly deluded -- they're all back in the second season of CTV star-search series Canadian Idol. Last night's opener, taped at audition tour stops in Ottawa and Toronto, introduced viewers to a new batch of attention-seeking jokers, painfully earnest karaoke junkies and disgruntled rejects like the tone-deaf Arabic Rhinestone Cowboy who vowed to be back. And no doubt he will be -- on an upcoming Best of the Worst special. With only 22 of 955 Ottawa singers and 33 of the 2,586 Toronto contestants advancing to the Top-155 quarter-final round, there were a whole lot of losers in the opening-night pack. Take 19-year-old Misty Tassone, whose rendition of Rod Stewart's The First Cut is the Deepest prompted Winnipeg-raised judge Zack Werner to offer some cutting advice. "You should spend a lot less time going to competitions and a lot more time learning how to sing ... you define mediocre." Undeterred, Tassone joined a chorus of musically challenged hopefuls who refused to go away quietly, stopping outside the audition room to offer choice, bleeped comments to the cameras and host Ben Mulroney. But there were also serious contenders like Gatineau, Que., electrician Anmary Legault, whose emotional honesty on Roy Orbison ballad Crying touched judges Werner, Sass Jordan, Farley Flex and Jake Gold. Brigden, Ont., crooner Joshua Seller, 23, camped out in his car for four days to get a shot at impressing judges. After singing U2's Where the Streets Have No Name, Seller was rewarded with a gold ticket to the quarter-finals and some rare praise from Werner. "You're the best person I've seen in the country so far, so good for you." The judges gave notice they'll be harder on some singers this season. Jordan said she's less patient with borderline contenders, and Gold said he's not looking for the most talented singer but for someone with star quality who has a serious shot at winning the Idol crown. He was not impressed with 16-year-old Schomberg, Ont., farm boy Brock Groombridge, who was the only contestant to appear in a segment shot at his home. Gold was uncharacteristically blunt with Groombridge, telling him, "You suck." There's more suckitude ahead as the second of three audition shows, from Montreal, Halifax and St. John's, airs tonight, on CKY Ch. 5 at 7 p.m. The third show, tomorrow at 7 p.m., features auditions in Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton and Vancouver. The Top-155 will include 14 Manitobans, some of whom auditioned in other cities. Next week, the judges whittle down the competition to 32 semi-finalists. __________________

I think this season of Canadian Idol defines horrible. I haven't been impressed by one singer that's gotten through, and knowing some of things that are going to happen within the next few shows I'm far from impressed.
The only reason I'm watching is because my friend is on it. If she wasn't I would be sending angry letters to CTV for wasting my time. __________________

America just doesn't want to spend their money on Canada channels....can't say I blame them
The last girl of the night was the best I've seen so far And I think this year's is better than last years fo sheezy... __________________

I thought how the judges treated that guy with all the medals and pens was really rude. It went beyond the kind of "sarcastic rude" that Simon portrays in AI. I didn't think that guy did anything to deserve that kind of treatment. Even if the judges thought he was goofing around, there should be better ways of handling this.
No one really blown me away yet. The girl who sang "Stuck" on Tuesday night wasn't great at all and yet she got a gold ticket just like that. I hope I get to see better people tonight. Hope.... __________________

There's definate talent for sure. Although right now it's kind of raw but it will be interesting to see how they do in the battle for the top 32 spots. Some surprises are likely. But I think I'm going to like this season and I'm glad they got the auditions out of the way quickly so the show can concentrate on the actual competition!
I liked the music teacher on tonight's show or Theresa from Regina I believe! The curly hair guy from tonight who is 19 was unique and should be interesting! But it will be a battle and I wonder if they are ready... |

Hello!
So far I'm liking it I liked Serge (Ottawa), Daniel (TO), Jason (NF) and the girl from Buckingham (Annie?). Also Kalan from last night, I thought he was interesting. Oh, and the guy who slept in his car for 4 days The 'boot camp' is my favourite part of the show, so I'm looking forward to next week Also, I just need to say: ONLY 11 DAYS BEFORE BILLY KLIPPERT'S ALBUM COMES OUT!!! for Billy's album
I liked Kalan and Theresa the mostest last night. There were a few that hurt my ears, that the judges liked The one guy from Regina who was singing with his hand at his ear and Farley said "this guy is off the hook" was not that great I thought. But it was great when after he got his ticket he said "Thank you for seeing my capacity" and Sass said "Thank you for having it". I laughed thinking of the bad ones they probably had heard before him I just noticed how unnormal the two judges' names are...Farley and Sass __________________

I was plesantly surprised at the talent in the first night of the "boot camp" tonight. We really got to see the talent, as opposed to the raw auditons. Tomorrow with the duets and single performance, they will tell the tale!
But there were numerous that I was impressed. Some I still question. But it will be an interesting season... |

for Theresa and Kalan being in there. I felt bad for Kirk when he got booted, but he just didn't sing the right song at all. and then for Adam to quit later that night? awww.
Does anyone know if Willie White is still in it even after he forgot all his lines? I couldn't see him in the rooms *shrugs* __________________

Wow....judging by the traffic on this thread....are ppl not watching this show?
I know it's no excuse when ppl forget their words. But I think I can understand that it's easy to get nervous and then your mind just goes blank. I guess this part of the competition differentiates who is more suitable for this thing since it's kinda important to be able to keep cool when facing crowds if you want to be a star. I hope this year's top 32 is more promising. Last year, when group 2 sang.....I died laughing. Yeah....I didn't like Jenny Gear and Gary Beals. __________________

Me neither, quarterley I just think that it would be easier to sing now in front of the contestants and judges than it would singing once you are in the top 12. That's just me though I wouldn't sing in front of ANYONE though .
Here are the pics of a couple of the ones standing out in my head: Theresa and Kalan __________________

I think my early favourite is Serge from Brossard. Not the type of voice I usually go for, but he's got something going on, big time! I kinda liked Jenny Gear last year. Never understood Gary Beals' appeal though! Oh, and 6 days until Billy Klippert's album comes out FL __________________
