Aww!! Podmom is the absolute best!! Especially since I get to see her IRL!!!

Roswell 10/2/00 12-24-2019 08:57 PM

Aw what a blessing you get to see her in real life. I can't remember if I ever met Pod Mom at the Bowl A thon when I went to California in 2006.

JournalingJedi 12-30-2019 05:53 PM

She’s awesome!!! I cannot believe I knew her for a while before finding out about our similar Roswell obsession!! We already had several other things in common!!!

Roswell New Mexico has been renewed for a THIRD season as of today. CW basically renewed it's whole line up. New show Kathy Keene that doesn't start until February 6th was give additional 13 script pickup.

I guess they made the decision ahead of the season starts for Roswell New Mexico and In the Dark because of a potential writer's strike this spring, which would impact getting the shows up an running for a fall debut.

So this gives the shows a head start in getting next season scripts started... and arcs developed.

The last one really impacted the season of many shows, and the timing of it led to a lot of disruption.

So, we'll see what Roswell has in store for another season, potentially matching the original for seasons.

Well that sucks!

PrincipessaBella 01-07-2020 05:13 PM

Yikes. Congrats to them I guess

Our Roswell existed at the wrong time obviously. It would have gotten more than 3 seasons simply because it was not a superhero show. It's soapy. So, I can see why they gave it another season, even without seeing what this season will do.

They have Arrow, Supernatural and 100 leaving the air. So they have a few slots for new shows. I am sure the new Superman/Lois spinoff of Arrowverse will be a shoo-in.

There were elements I enjoyed of the reboot. But the original Roswell was more special. Had a different quality to it. Which I enjoyed more.

But with so many superhero shows on the air, or coming on the air. I can see why they want different.

And the crap just keeps rolling out. I think the CW has also renewed a number of commercials as well, ya know, to get ahead of things

PrincipessaBella 01-07-2020 08:59 PM

Seriously, some of these shows should be thankful there's a possible writer's strike happening.

And based on their development slate, it's more of the same crap...more superheroes, more spinoffs, more reboots. I'll be curious to hear what they do actually end up ordering and eventually pick up. Since they renewed pretty much their entire lineup once again, I'm wondering how many they'll announce will be ending.

If ours existed now, it would thrive. It's so unfortunate that it was well before its time and instead now we're stuck with this version. I wish there were more elements of it that I enjoyed besides a couple of characters.

I think I am going to be sick! After all the original fans did to save our show between the Tabasco campaign and trying to get it on a new netowrk for season 3. This network goes and just hands them a new season!

I am SO sick of these remakes can't anyone think of an original story anymore! It just shows how desperate the CW really is. I don't think it will last long as a network. It started in 2006 so it has been a good 14 years.

Oh well there is a reason why our show Roswell has always lasted 20 years later we still are talking about it.

I don't think in 20 years people will still be talking about Roswell New Mexico.

Nothing can hold a candle to the original all the feels and characters were amazing! No matter how bad the storylines got to had to root for them and had to see how it all ended. 20 years later we still believe!

Hopefully the writers strike will be in our favor and this show can finally crash and burn!

Different era's for different shows. Now networks look for year around scheduling if possible. Which is why epically low rated Dynasty keeps going because of the International rights it gets for the show. And streaming has changed everything for everyone.

Our Roswell existed in a different generation for television.

CW needs stuff not classified as superhero.

Flash is getting up there is age. So, who knows how much more they have that one. Keeping shows in the pipeline can mean they can delay shows until winter, spring like they are with this season of Roswell New Mexico.

If the show at all mattered, it would have aired in the fall or winter. It's been relegated to spring, with low expectations for it's ratings. It means they don't care as much for it.

Our show had charm. It was about something meaningful. Teenagers in perilous times, falling in love and finding a boat load of trouble in the process, and the aliens finding out more about their lives.

This is one doesn't have the same aura around it. But I can see why people would like it. Because it's different from the glut of superhero shows.

And if there is a writer's strike. They will be prepared, unlike the last one.

I’m just amazed that there is a lot of talent out there and yet we have the same rehash, reboots, and the like.

Either there is so much garbage out there and this is indeed the best of the garbage , or the real talent isn’t even allowed in the room simply because they do not know the right people to open the door for them.

Ugh!

I agree with Jasper times have really changed......

Jasper1975 01-08-2020 10:01 AM

CW is cateres to a different demographic. They go for the youth market if they can. Although all ages seem to watch their stuff LOL. It's why the WB did so well with Dawson's Creek and Buffy. They go a different type of show.

They also don't care about the ratings if they can find some decent measurement in other areas. Which is why Nancy Drew was renewed, with it's soft ratings.

So it's no wonder there is a overload of superhero stuff, or dark mysteries like Riverdale and Nancy Drew.

Still they need stuff not classified as superhero. Which is why Roswell continues, because despite the powers and aliens. It's classic soapy.
