RCC #64 In Memory Of Our Beloved Dawnuk, We Honor Her By Posting On Her Favorite Thread

Welcome to the Royal Cabana Club! Official home of the Sockless Pool Crew!

The Podsters may have taken to the highway, but our loyal staff...The Royal Cabana Boys (RCBs)--Max, Mikey, Alex, and Kyle--are still here at our beck and call. Need a massage, tanning oil, a drink or just some downtime in the toolshed, just ask and they will come. Royal Cabana Girl (RCG) Liz is also at your service.

Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions about Roswell--the storylines, the chads, tiic, or whatever else catches your interest.

And now, The Royal Cabana Crew ~

RCB Max.

RCG Liz

RCB Kyle, don’t stop there, lose that shirt.

And because you can't have a pool club without a pirate, LOL

Dawn's post from March 13th-

I wasn't watching my post count and did my 3000th post on the off topic thread sorry

Nevermind we can still have a posting party here

It took me years to get my 2000 posts and only 6 weeks to get another 1000

Dawnie

I will miss our posting nights on Television and Off-Topic.

It is snowing here today. Just a temporary thing; it will be 60 again by Wednesday.

(Brought over from last thread.)

Well, it's been a difficult week. At least, it's stopped snowing...
Monday evening, when they were walking me, half a cup of water got spilled into my laptop. Well, that ain't good. After trying several things to dry out and resuscitate it, I had to accept it was dead. I'd had it for some 15 years; it was an "old friend" that I'd customized to suit me, and I liked it even though the video driver was a bit iffy (it kept crashing and then resetting itself). So, no computer.
"Fortunately", I'd backed it (and all my passwords!) up onto an external hard drive; so all I needed was a laptop (with an USB port) and I could restore everything. I knew my sister Susan (Palomino) had an old spare one, so I asked to borrow hers. She was good enough to lend it to me, and so I was in business ...... hang on, this doesn't fit. She'd dropped the laptop, and the case was cracked; but the computer ran OK. Thing is, the corner that was damaged has the only USB plug, which was also damaged. So, no backup/restore, and I still lacked my passwords. Sooo.....
I explained the situation to my sister, who offered me an even older laptop she had been thinking about getting rid of. She brought that in, and took back her newer old laptop. That worked; and after a busy day+ of software tinkering I could get back into my e-mail, Fan Forum, etc.

Meanwhile, that Monday walk was the last one I've had; today is Saturday. And I was to get my shower yesterday. The aide said she'd do it after lunch... then she said I was scheduled for it second shift... and then second shift said nothing about it. We get showered weakly.

But at least it stopped snowing!
--------

ETA: Sunday afternoon. It's snowing. Again.
And now, it's laying. (sigh)
--------
ETA: Monday afternoon. Got an inch or two. The grass is clogged with snow, but the roads are just damp. It's flurrying, but just about done.

Sorry about your computer woes; glad you were able to get back on here.

We had a light dusting of snow. Way too early for that!
Looking forward to the 65 degrees on Wednesday.
Too bad it is dark by 5:30 now. I could get out and finish some cleaning up.
We have so many walnuts this year, the critters won't have time to store them up.
I want to at least get them in a pile.

Walnuts? Collect them, if you can. Free snacks, and tasty too! I'm sure the critters can spare a few, if there are that many. My late grandfather used to collect them in a coffee can; and we'd sit with him, crack them, and eat the meats out of them. Yum.

Black Walnuts are so messy and hard, I leave them for the critters.
I know someone who used to put them in the driveway, and drive over them to
crack the shells.

Easier to open them with a hammer. More fun, too.
(My grandfather was a master carpenter. )

Will be greatly missed.

I would like to add her sheep avatar, but can't figure out how to transfer.
Anyone know how to pull that from her profile?
I am so heartbroken over this news! I remember when Dawnuk would post here all the time. We will miss her at the pool and all the great times we had.

So sad to not have her on the boards. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family!

This guy (and his YouTube channel) has the best recipes. Here's a link to a different pecan pie, and discussion. It's mentioned you could do this with other nuts. Imagine this, but using walnuts, and maybe some maple syrup?

Yes, it was a great shock. Her funeral is Thursday.

In general; it is in Wales.

Yes, I have always loved Peanuts: have had books, posters, pillows, sheets, statues,
and many other things over the years. Now I like them for avatars.
