Hi everyone! I don’t know if you all know this,
but the Cherishing Max & Liz thread was the very first shipper thread in all of Fan Forum!
And the Roswell fandom goes beyond fan forum and they are a fandom who showed respect and support for the show while it was on.

They campaigned to help the producer of the show when his child was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
From the years of 2002-2006 the Roswell fandom put together an event called ‘Zeke Lerner Celebrity Bowl-A-Thon’
and helped raise over 80,000 dollars if not more for this cause.
The posters on fan forum would come together for this very event.
They also campaigned to keep their show on air.
This is what the moderator says about the campaign to save the show and how fan forum helped out.
“In 99 we were the first successful fan internet campaign at the time to save a show.
Now it is so common people go on twitter and start petition groups on Facebook.
We used the message boards on fan forum to get the word out. We sent postcards and Tabasco sauce to get the word out.”

It’s clear that the fans of Roswell are loyal, dedicated, supportive, and respectful.
They love the show and they respect each other. This makes for a great environment and a great board."

I would like to quote something that the moderator of the board wrote.
It really describes the board more than I ever can and I can only hope that this will bring new and
old Roswell fans to fan forum and the board.

Don’t be a stranger.

"As Roswell once said in one of it’s 99 Fire promo’s “it’s a feeling like no other”
and that is true when it comes to Roswell and it’s message board on fan forum.
We are such a passionate and caring group.
A lot of my good friends I made thanks to Roswell and fan forum.
The community back in the days was amazing. We were all like a family our joy and pain was felt by all.
I think we all felt like the characters on Roswell were our family and we could relate to them in some way.
Alien and Human Roswell made us love them both.
It was a show about love, about family, about fitting in, and risking it all, and touching one anothers life in someway.
We did that in the friendships we made and the people we helped with our charity that the fans put together.
I think that is why our board is so unique and special.
It really was love in cyber space.
No matter where we came from or how old we were Roswell has touched our hearts in so many ways
just like the silver hand print did for Liz when Max healed her.

As someone who has been a member of Fan Forum since 2001
and a MOD of the Roswell board for 9 years I am always
amazed how passionate the Roswell fans have been all these years!
It's so nice to know our love for Roswell has not faded
and that we are still invading this board!

"I'm a fan of many TV shows, but Roswell will always have a special place in my heart.
I suspect it will always hold the title of "my favorite."
Why? Because it was the show that I experienced when
I was feeling quite "alien" myself, as an adolescent.
It made me question, "What's so great about normal?"

and that being a unique, potentially even weird, person is far more interesting.
I could write a novel explaining all the things I love about Roswell,
but I'll settle for the abridged version:
I love the themes, the relatability, the characters.
I love Michael and Maria's sweet and spicy relationship
the most and hope to have a relationship like that myself someday.
I love the music and the chemistry of the cast;
and I appreciate the creativity this show has evoked in me, particularly in the realm of fan fiction.
As silly as it may sound to some, I really don't know who or
where I would be without this special show.
I've been a fan since I was 10 years old, and I don't see that changing anytime soon."

but I almost feel like I was always in it.
I'd heard about it years ago as a long-time member of FanForum,
and had caught wind of the passionate fandom here and there.
It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that I actually
watched the series, and became obsessed with it!
There's something about this show that just grabs you,
and won't let go.
The Roswell board is an institution on FanForum,
and was welcoming to me as a latecomer.
I now post here every single day and
will continue to post here for a long time to come!"

It feels so nostalgic saying this but happy 300th celebration
to the Roswell board and all its posters. :clap:
Roswell will always have a special place in my heart because
it was one of the very first fandoms I was in and
I'll always cherish those moments of squeeing with my fellow
posters and shippers over the characters...
and more specifically Max/Liz.
And the Roswell board is such a wonderful one,
that I'm super proud to see it still doing well and thriving on FF ...
and it's such a testament to how loyal the fanbase it and
how much the show has touched people here that it's
stayed on for so long after the show ended.
Will always be proud to call myself a Roswellian and a Dreamer.

This is an incredible moment for all the posters and mods.

Roswell was the show that made me start posting on boards and reading fanfic, it has been a life long relationship from that on.

My sister and I were so obsessed with this show we quoted it all the time, even now, years after she stills says: What's so great about normal?
