It would have made great foreshadowing if the writers had the guts to follow it up. I do think that looking back at that storyline in s1, & how it was revealed that they were meant to pair up, those writers would have explored M/I later on in the series....but then the writing staff changed so....

Yeah, even the s2 & s3 writers teased them, & if the show had lasted longer, maybe they would have got their shot

Remember him saying 'we were together before you were born & we'll be together when you're nothing but bones' in 3x15? They clearly hadn't forgotten about M/I. Plus, it's stuff like that that tells me that even though they never got their chance on screen, it was just a matter of time before they ended up together.

When he said that, I squealed like the little fangirl I am. And that's true, they could have really wanted to lead up to them being together but never got the chance. In my head, that's completely the case.

There was one tiny moment in the finale I think, probably not noticeable but when Isabel is talking to Jesse & she hugs him, the camera then swings round for the Max/Michael part of the scene & it looks for a moment like Michael had been watching Isabel.
