Nope. Boring. And he's all over the place now. And how the :censored: are we supposed to buy him as a Greek in Clash of the Titans? He doesn't anything like a Greek. He looks British.
How arey ou supposed to buy Gyllenhal has a persian?
Well, Gyllenhaal is part Middle-Eastern in background.
what part middleastern? Turkish? Arabian? Palestenian? Persian? It would be like you're saying you're part caucasian.
He's half Jewish. Jewish is of Middle Eastern origin. Genetic studies show that Jews are genetically close to some of those Middle Eastern peoples you listed. Getting an actor of Middle Eastern ancestry to play a Middle Eastern character is an improvement on what Hollywood often does -they get Indians, Hispanics, Italians and every other type of non-Middle Eastern to play Middle Eastern characters. Of course it's not the same as getting a Persian to play a Persian, but it's a big improvement.
Ok, i'll buy that....but he's still not persian.
True. But there aren't a lot of Iranian actors who are well-known in the West and they probably wanted a well-known star. Though I complain about that sort of thing when they cast non-Irish people as Irish people just to get a bigger star.

.

Like Brad Pitt in snatch?
Brad Pitt in Snatch was tolerable because he did such a good job. But look at Watchmen guy Matthew Goode in Leap Year, an Englishman playing an Irishman. That whole movie was an insult to Ireland. Serious stereotyping. Amy Adams is a very overrated actress.
I can agree with the latter part, however, i never saw leapyear.
If you want to see a bad Irishman, watch Megashark vs Giant octopus.... |
Or you could just watch Piss I love You (or whatever it's called) , sexist misandrist silly romance film in which Gerard Butler plays a creepy dead Irishman who won't leave his wife alone even after he's dead. Granted Butler is part Irish in ancestry, but he's Scottish and his "Irish" accent is a horrible mutilation. And why's Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing an Irishman what the :censored: sort of accent is he supposed to have? What's so hard about getting Irish actors to play Irish people? It's not like there's a shortage of them. The novel this drivel was based on was written by Cecilia Ahern, whose father used to run Ireland (not very well). So naturally this film is yet another crime her family has committed against the country. I didn't hate Bertie, but he wasn't exactly a shining leader.
Hrm, he's from near glasgow...not a horrible accent, but certainly....pronounced.
What he created when he tried an Irish accent was a horrible accent.
Gah, you guys were talking about Prince of Persia? I said it before but while the movie has its share of action, the ending was all a deus ex machina.
I intend to see it at some point. Gyllenhaal is a good actor.
Gyllenhall was okay but you might want to leave right at the climax point.
Why? What happens?
A very weird ending that even if it's all explained, it's disappointing.
Wooo, she used latin.
I wasn't that disappointed in the ending, just that it semi-overwrote all the emotional investment you had up until then. |
why do they insist on ruining the memory of a good movie with crap sequels?
Money? ;)
:whip:
I deserved that!
It's true, though, that producers will try to milk every last cent from a franchise with an established fan-base. You only have to pay to see it - and hate it - once in order for them to make money. :look: |
the whip was for them, not you!
