The moderator managers and I have been discussing this, and we think that it may be time to close this board. Our post counts have been declining over the past few months and we have very few regular posters. As you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 15 posts per day, with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure of the board. We would prefer to go out under our own terms rather than be forced to close due to low post counts.

Please let us know what you think. We'd be glad to hear any suggestions or advice to renew interest here. Remember that to keep the board going, we need the commitment of a few regular, dedicated posters. As much as we love this board, please don't just post to "save" the board and then disappear again, because we'll be in the same position that we're in now if you do.

Well, I didn't want this to happen. But the fact of the matter is we're having troubles making the post counts currently... the board is already on the low post count warning list, and if we make them this month it'll only be by a whisker. We've also had no applicants to moderate the board with me twice now, which leads me to think that the interest to keep the board around may not be great. In addition to this, most if not all of the topics that can be discussed on this board can be discussed elsewhere (their own boards or the Books or Television board), which lessens the amount of topics here that generates discussion. I'd like us to go out without being forced to do so, and thus I think we may want to close it on our own terms. I am certainly willing to listen to ideas on how to increase the post counts enough to keep the board around, though.

I'm sorry to read this.

I haven't been the greatest poster here, nor I've been around all that much, but I really like this board and have been meaning and trying to stop by more often lately. I'd be sad to see it gone, but I will understand and support whatever decision you and the regular posters will make, I know how frustrating it can be to keep a board afloat with with few posters and no co-mod.

If you guys decide to give it a second chance and see if things can improve, I promise not to desert the place again.

I'm sorry to hear this but I understand your decision. It is the same for my board.

It's hard to attract and keep a steady amount of posters. Especially with all the boards around There is just so much to choose from and sadly also a lot of competition from other websites.

I'd be sad to see this board go but I'm sure I'll meet you guys on other boards. Sadly I'm not really a regular here and I don't watch enough stuff to become more active here.

I would hate to see this board go, but I can definitely understand what you're saying Dan. It gets harder when the threads here get their own boards, and then people tend to post on those boards rather than the individual threads.

As much as I love this board and would hate to see it go, I agree with the reasons. As a mod of a genreal discussion board, I agree. When you have a thread that has it own board you don't get much traffic.

But I do have to say the ones where they have their own board, sometimes I much prefer to discuss them on a thread here, but it's hard when no one else really posts.

I've always been more of a lurker here, but it'd be a bummer to see it go. Have you tried maybe reaching out to some of those other threads on different boards? I've done that for both of my boards and it has brought in posters before, sometimes people genuinely don't know other places exist.

Or going on a thread revival spree to see if anyone bites? I very recently did that with the HIMYM board cause for 4 weeks straight posts declined to the point of barely making a hundred a week. Last week after I dug up some old threads, I had a 500 post count week. Sometimes people are just lazy to go looking for stuff.

I get the feeling of repeated low post counts though when being a solo mod. Had that last one idea I said not have worked, I may have very well posted one of these threads on HIMYM too, since I ended up in the same boat of no one to co-mod with and declining post counts.

I understand your sentiment Mysteria but those are only temporary. I've gone through all of those over the past year at the Eliza board. It sometimes brings back posters temporarily to go and steal posters from other boards but they never stay .

I do prefer to discuss certain shows on a more general board because some fans can be too much to handle and those will stick to the board and not visit the thread of the tv show at a general board.

I hope to see you all at the Television board if this one will in fact close down to further discuss certain shows.

Yeah, I think Nath's right ... that might work for a week or two, but what about when I'm not sure if they'll still be around in October. I agree that discussing things on a general board is easier and I prefer it too, but you can discuss a show like Orphan Black four places here - its own board, the TV board, here, and its couples on the Couples board. That's the issue here I think - that there's no content on this board that can't be discussed elsewhere on FF.

Yeah but still the Couples board is so fragmented and only talks about one part of the show. Here you can talk about it all. Same for TV board.

Those of us who have moderated for a long time ,Understand the Delemia , sure you can go back 5-6-7 pages bringing back up old threads . One can only do that for so long .
